Soulmask Celebrates Its First Anniversary with Free DLC and Automation Update

Venture into the depths in search of a new mask.

It has been a year since Campfire Studio hit the publish button on Steam for their tribe-building survival game, Soulmask. To celebrate, they are releasing a free DLC, which adds a new mask with its own powers and lore. Alongside this, the devs also announced the Automation update.

The Golden Legend DLC allows you to pick a new mask that you can find in the game. It is imbued with the knowledge and culture of an ancient alien civilization that was very advanced for its time. However, they suddenly vanished without a trace, and so did this mask until you recovered it from a dungeon in the ocean depths. Wearing it will grant the player a unique ability called the Divine Eye. With it, you can see enemies from afar, similar to a spyglass. It will also show the barbarians’ stats and proficiency.

The other part of this anniversary is the Automation update. Long gone are the days of working tirelessly in the mines gathering ores. The Power Mine will do it all for you. It can be hooked up to the new transport system. Gear-powered ropeways can span across the island, delivering cargo wherever you want. It is not just great for your resources. By crafting a zipline hook, you can hop on the ropes and travel along the route. You can also use it to easily get up or down a cliff, making traversing much easier. If you are not sure how you want the layout of your base or powered rope line to be, the new Planning Mode can help. It places ghost images down so you can decide where everything will go. Once you are happy with it, you can supply the items yourself or have your tribespeople build everything while you relax on the beach.

Do you think automation is an important feature in survival games? Let me know in the comments.
