Developers have confirmed that the next expansion, titled Void and Voltage, will launch on January 28th, 2026. The same day will also mark the arrival of Core Keeper on Nintendo Switch 2, giving a new generation of explorers a chance to awaken in its mysterious underground world.

Void and Voltage adds one of the most substantial updates the game has seen. The centerpiece is Breaker’s Reach, a new biome filled with mechanical lifeforms and guarded corridors. Chargers, Patrollers and Swarmers defend the region’s valuable materials that can be used to craft new weapons, tools, armor and electronics. The biome also introduces a new boss encounter in the form of S.A.H.A.B.A.R, a towering robot equipped with precision energy beams and multi phase attacks designed to challenge even experienced players.

The update leans heavily into machinery with the introduction of the Advanced Automation Table. This workbench unlocks a wide set of automation tools including a Seed Extractor, Robot Farm Arm, upgraded salvaging systems, new generators, proximity sensors and several other electronic components. Early community previews suggest these additions will dramatically streamline base operations.

Combat focused players will also find plenty to test out. New weapons include miniguns, mortars, grenades, remote detonators and a flamethrower that reacts dangerously with oil barrels in the environment. Decorative items, armor sets, off hand items and a new minion and tome round out the equipment additions.

A new Void-themed sub biome adds dangerous variants of familiar enemies. Void Larvae, Void Cavelings, Void Shamans and Void Brutes feature a new combat mechanic that allows for explosive flames, spinning arcane beams and unpredictable lightning attacks. The Void Hydra lurks as a major new threat as well. Players can also expect echo maps for easier navigation, new crafting statues, additional achievements, paintable items and expanded world interactions.

This expansion builds on the game’s core mechanics of exploration, crafting, and multiplayer survival in an underground world. With so many features packed in, Void and Voltage is shaping up to be one of Core Keeper’s most ambitious updates yet.
