Aloft’s Skies Became a Lot More Complex in the New ‘Puzzles and Pyrologics’ Update

Explore over 150 new locations!

It is time to visit the skies again as Astrolabe Interactive released the Puzzles and Pyrologics update for their cozy survival game, Aloft.

This is the biggest update yet, adding a new logic system where you can open trap doors or turn walls with pyrologic, a new form of heat-based power. Puzzles and Pyrologics adds over 150 new POIs and 17 islands. Enemies and tools have also been rebalanced. In general, the fungus attack speed is reduced, making it easier to take down the nodes.

The biggest addition to this update would be the puzzles. They can be found randomly on islands across the world. They can be as simple as hitting a button to open a door or become more complex with multiple parts to the solution. Seven of the new islands revolve around these mechanics, with two of these being large wonder islands. On these two, you will find structures like rotating doors, pressure plates, trap floors, and more that you need to sketch to make your own contraptions. Alternatively, if you are having trouble finding them, players unlock everything from knowledge stones found in the Red Cliffs biome.

In order to build any of this, you will require a new resource. Emberstone is an ore found in the Fallen Heights. However, there is a little more work involved to obtain this, as you first need to expose the core by completely removing the outer shell. The emberstone core is too hot to pick up, so you need to cool it down by pouring water over it. After this, you can use it for building the previously mentioned contraptions or a warm new light to decorate your new triangular base with. Each material type has gotten a new triangle building piece to add even more details to your builds.

What do you think of the puzzle islands? Let me know in the comments.
