    Where are the assassins?

    • Pros
    • Graphics
    • Setting
    • Norse mythology
    • Great open world
    • Interesting story
    • Cons
    • Stealth mechanics almost non-existent
    • Bad map navigation
    • Characters writing
    • Bugs/glitches
    • Repetitive side-quests
    • RPG-elements retrogress

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla had the potential to be one of the best of the series, the viking setting is very popular and well represented, but at the same time, the poor execution of the game and the attempt to change yet again the formula, shifting from an RPG action game with good stealth elements like the two predecessors (Assassin’s Creed Origins, and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, which already changed the formula of the series, but in a better way), to a pure action game, that almost always forces you to fight instead assassinate, makes you drift too far away from the theme and the title of the series: ASSASSIN’S CREED.

I do understand that viking were not assassins, they were brute fighters, but if Ubisoft didn’t have the will to put enough energy in the project to make it part of the series, maybe they should’ve started a new franchise. Really disappointed by this game, knowing how much potential it held.

As we know, it is a production that follows in the footsteps of Origins and Odyssey. But it has come out on top when it comes to enlarging the map. What is the point of making such a big map? In terms of content, you’re always making people do the same things. They have unique World Events, I agree with that, but they really made a very unnecessary big game.
The AC series constantly features characters that are both well-written and well-crafted. Altair-Ezio-Haytham Kenway. Two characters in the previous game, but one Canon operation, this time it is one character, but the gender choice is left to the player.
Speaking of characters, the AC series always included historical figures in the series. da Vinci, Cleopatra and Socrates became our masters. This time, I’m not sure if it’s because of the period in which it took place. There was no historical personality that I knew of, other than Ragnar’s sons. Of course, there are people in Anglo-Saxon history, but to be honest, English feudal lordships do not interest me much.
The world of the game is so big and so similar to other games that after a while you’ll be doing everything by heart. I said I would overcome my zone clearing disease in the other two games in this game, but I realized that I was doing the same thing again in the first 50-75 hours. Death-seeking Drengrs, special Animals, World Events and hundreds of things to collect are waiting to steal your time.
Let me talk a little about combat and mechanics. I say a little because most of them are similar to other games. The passive skill tree is huge. That’s why the level scale of the game is quite wide. After 150 hours in the main game, I was last level 520. I can’t imagine the end with additional packages.
Finally, let me talk about the background story. The outer world, which was treated in a very blurry manner after Desmond, continued the same in this game as well. After what happened at the end of the game, a twist came from a place I never expected. Well, I was a little suspicious about this at the beginning of the game, but let me say spoilers. Producers made a nice connection. That’s why I’m quite curious about Mirage.
The series must continue. You should play.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla delivers a good open-world game based on Nordic mythology. Thanks to this game, I kinda learned a bit about Nord stuff. The story gets interesting as you get through the missions. Some missions are good but they become kinda repetitive by doing the same stuff over again. But that is ok as you already know what to do. I do not have major complaints about the combat. The graphics and the atmosphere of course are stunning. The weapons are kinda varied, but it would be good if there were more stuff to craft and level up.

Valhalla: Where Vikings, axes, & epic tales meet !
    8
    • Pros
    • Epic Viking saga
    • Beautiful open world
    • Engaging combats
    • Rich RPG Elements
    • You can pet cats and dog (really)
    • Cons
    • AC Valhalla moves away from the series' core stealth gameplay, which has been a hallmark of the Assassin's Creed saga
    • A little bit empty world in comparison with AC Odyssey or Origins

    Story time,

One fine winter day in 2007, my BFF asked me to come over to his place to check out something amazing on his PC that I’d surely love. Without wasting a moment, I rushed over (he actually lives right across from my house). He was absolutely right; it was the day I first discovered the original Assassin’s Creed. Since that day, I’ve played through every installment of this fantastic franchise (only missed out on 3 or 4).

Over a decade later, the Vikings TV series emerged and gained immense popularity with the audience. After a few seasons, it was announced that the next Assassin’s Creed installment would be set in this era. I promptly pre-ordered the game, and that’s where the story time concludes.

Back to the game, AC Valhalla delivers a visually stunning experience. The graphics are top-notch, immersing players in the breathtaking landscapes of snowy Norway, the lush greenery of England, and, without revealing any spoilers, a new world region that’s seamlessly woven into the game.

One significant evolution in Valhalla is its deep RPG elements. Building upon its predecessors, Origins and Odyssey, the RPG aspect is more pronounced, allowing players to shape their Viking journey with impactful decisions and character progression, Ragnar Lothbrok would be very proud of our protagonist. Ah so as not to forget, the diversity in weapons and armor is a standout feature. Dual-wielding, including the possibility of wielding two shields simultaneously, adds a layer of combat strategy that keeps the gameplay fresh and engaging (and here Lagertha Lothbrok would be proud of us hahaha).

The health restoration system, hinging on devouring sustenance instead of relying on effortless regeneration, infuses the game with an immersive survival essence, delivering an authentic Viking experience that even Odin himself would nod approvingly at.

As you progress through the game, you’ll find that AC Valhalla’s story is every bit as captivating as that of a blockbuster film or a binge-worthy TV series. Its intricate and rich narrative keeps players invested in Eivor’s journey (Did you know that Eivor is a name that can be given to both a man and a woman?). Moreover, fans of the series will be pleased to encounter familiar faces from previous titles (This is Spar…. What was I talking about?).

However, while I thoroughly enjoyed Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, there were some aspects that didn’t quite hit the mark for me. While the game is undeniably beautiful, the landscapes of Origins and Odyssey felt more captivating, and I found England, at times, to be somewhat lacking in depth.

Additionally, the franchise’s core element of stealth and infiltration seems to have taken a backseat in Valhalla, which might disappoint fans who were drawn to the series for its stealthy gameplay.

In conclusion, AC Valhalla is where Vikings, axes, and epic tales meet. An axe-ceptional gaming saga! (Nice pun, no ?)

Still not a real Assasin's Creed game
    6
    • Pros
    • Beautiful and large open world to explore
    • Good music
    • Okay combat
    • Decent story but characters are not very interesting
    • The Viking setting is nice
    • Cons
    • Questing can get repetitive pretty fast
    • Not challenging enough later on
    • Not enough depth in stealth mechanics as you would expect for such a game

The world is so big that it can get overwhelming. The game looks good at first, but as you progress you start to see how mediocre it is, like the rest Ubisoft titles developed in the last years.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is an open world Viking simulator.

You start as a child and see how your father sacrifices himself to save your home town but this was in vain because an opposing Viking clan attacks the city anyways. The game then skips a few years to where you are older and make your own clan by raiding and gathering resources.

Unlike the earlier Assassin’s Creed games, you have a leveling system with a skill tree.
The story is pretty interesting and has a lot of details. There are also side quests with decision making that have an impact on the game world.
Each choice can lead you to one out of the six endings.

There is sea fairing in the game and it has been improved a lot over games like Assassin’s Creed Black Flag/Odyssey.

There are also a few DLCs. Some are story driven and some give you pets. These DLCs are worth the money.

I recommend playing Assassin’s Creed Valhalla if you are interested in exploring and adventure.
