    Space Survival With Potential
    6
    • Pros
    • Sci-fi setting
    • Good atmosphere
    • Exploration focus
    • Survival elements
    • Interesting concept
    • Cons
    • Repetitive loop
    • Lacks depth
    • Rough mechanics
    • Limited content
    • Needs polish

I tried Astrometica for a while and it has a pretty interesting space survival concept. Exploring, managing resources, and trying to stay alive in a sci-fi setting feels good at first. I liked the atmosphere and the idea behind it, but the gameplay starts to feel repetitive after some time and it still feels a bit underdeveloped. It has potential, just needs more depth and polish.

    Astrometica nails space survival
    7
    • Pros
    • Expansive freedom
    • Nice world design
    • Cons
    • Not enough content
    • Limited narrative depth
    • Slow start - early resource grind is very repetitive

Astrometica totally gives off strong Breathedge 1 vibes – like playing Subnautica but launched into space – and it really builds on that formula. You’re constantly gathering resources, crafting better tools, and expanding bases, which scratches that sandbox itch in a satisfying way. Building out your base, setting up mining ops and eventually building a spaceship to keep progressing hits that next-level resource galactic builder fantasy. It’s rough around the edges being early access – some systems feel unpolished but for anyone who loves diving into resource farming and base construction in a sci-fi setting, this is a fun ride so far.

Out of Air and Out of Time

    • Pros
    • Exploration
    • Crafting
    • Relaxed regarding pacing
    • Very pretty game
    • Cons
    • Lack of story (Feeling only)
    • Almost too relaxed

I really enjoyed playing Astrometica. It’s simple and easy to get into, but it still manages to feel tense and scary. You’re stuck in space with your oxygen running out, and that constant pressure really keeps you on edge. The atmosphere is great, and even though the gameplay is straightforward, it totally pulled me in. If you like short, creepy space games, this one’s definitely worth checking out.

    Mix of Subnautica and Breathedge

This is a fun and interesting introduction to a space survival game. It’s a more serious mixed version of Breathedge and Subnautica. I’m in love with the design of the summon vehicle, top tier space car/coupe. The narrative is interesting though, and the building philosophy is a bit weird but fun to use. Batteries are far more useful than solar panels but there are way more tech options for solar panels. This is a work in progress and I am interested on where it will go. If you like this genre, give it a chance.

    Beautiful, still quite Early Access
    8
    • Pros
    • Beautiful Environments
    • Satisfying Crafting
    • Very in-depth Photo Mode and Graphics Settings
    • Fun and Fluid to float through space
    • Cons
    • Some environments are a little bit bright
    • Could use a bit more variability in biomes/choice of colours
    • Had one little bug
    • Performance needs a bit of work on Steam Deck
    • Would love more storyline

This game is beautiful and it’s very interesting to have a survival adventure in space! You are a bit more “stranded” than No Man’s Sky, so it’s similar to Subnautica in that way! The game has a lot of nice graphics options to play around with and a really in-depth photo mode! I would love some new biomes added with a bit more varied colour choices, and flora/fauna! (I also wish the planets were much bigger). Some more recipes to cook and creatures to befriend would be really cool! Right now the world feels a little too barren and lonely (even though that’s the point, it’s strange to see how little life there is on the planets)

The crafting is straightforward, materials are accessible and you can unlock upgrades pretty early on! A little bit more of a tutorial would have been very nice, as I was a bit confused how to find a few things and differentiate the mineral rocks floating around! There is a scanner you unlock after a few hours, but in my opinion I would have loved this at the beginning! The upgrades and tools work really well together, and as you progress you get a satisfying feeling of gaining the ability to explore the big open world around you! It gives a realistic feeling of progression without handing you *too* much. I really love how when you die in whichever way your inventory stays there for you to come back to, without losing anything!

It works well on Steam Deck, but drains the battery quite fast and could perform a little bit better graphically! I only encountered one bug where I suddenly couldn’t move and suffocated out in space a few times because of it, I learned that you can fix it by opening/closing the inventory!

I’m really excited for them to keep working through Early Access, hopefully adding new biomes, creatures, customization, crafting, improving the movement a bit and some performance enhancements!
