It’s a mix of Valheim and Sea of Thieves. Atmospheric and super chill gameplay.
Although a little short on content, the base building and exploring of procedural generated sandy islands and seas is awesome relaxing fun. Rough around the edges in some ways but provides hours of fun content. Has storyline quests and even has coop.
Also has unique water based physics. Very impressive for a Unity Engine game and is one of the main reasons why it is worth picking up.
Very promising future, cannot wait to see more!
Breakwaters is a survival game set on different islands with the main goal of destroying giant rock monsters called titans that terrorize the lands and sea. Even though they only walk around until you cage them.
The main selling point of this game is the way you interact with water. With the help of some crystals, you can create items to split the water.
This sounds cool, and it is, but there are no real instances in the game where you have to use it besides making it easier to collect resources from the beach.
The game is set in a large world. Most of it is the sea with islands dotted around the map. So in order to get around you can build boats and customize them by adding cannons or an engine to them. There is even a boat that can fly!
Currently, the game is in a very early stage and most of the islands have nothing of interest on them, making it not worth exploring islands that you are not forced to go to progress the story.
The main issue I have heard people talk about are the controls being bad and I do have to agree with this, walking is pretty okay but jumping on the other hand just feels off.
This is an interesting survival game, so I do hope the devs continue working on the game and making it the best it can be.
