    Roguelite disappointment
    5
    • Pros
    • Good animations
    • Fun to play with friends
    • Replay value
    • Art style
    • Variety of weapons and characters
    • Cons
    • Bugs
    • Gameplay feels repetitive
    • Lack of content and support
    • The roguelike aspect feels half-hearted and barely noticeable
    • It is difficult to differentiate yourself from other players and enemies

The game is quite simple; it resembles a kind of cooperative Binding of Isaac (you can also play solo), and it’s in this aspect that the problems arise. While it’s fun for a few hours, there are many bugs that ruin the experience. For example, some players see items or enemies that others do not, the camera is awful (It was designed for solo play and was poorly adapted to multiplayer) and it’s hard to differentiate yourself from the others. On top of that, when you move to the next room on the map, enemies can spawn literally right next to you, dealing unfair damage. The maps always feel the same and the bosses are few. Although there is a variety of weapons, it’s incredibly common to always have the same build. The roguelite aspect doesn’t feel present at all.

    "April" Chopped

    • Graphics
    • Co-op
    • Fast action
    • Gameplay
    • Artstyle
    • Smooth
    • Cons
    • Needs more contents

It’s fun to play alone for those who love the genre. As you progress through the levels, the combat becomes more difficult and this keeps you in the game. The graphics are very beautiful and impressive, the battle mechanics are satisfactory in terms of sufficient item variety.
In short, it was a nice production to relax in and relieve stress.
Yes, it’s fun to play alone, but I’m sure it’s more fun to play co-op with friends.

When an April Fool's Joke Turns into a Real Game
    7
    • Pros
    • Successful cartoon design
    • Variety of weapons
    • Diverse and enjoyable environments
    • Highly enjoyable in cooperative play
    • Cons
    • Runs can be somewhat lengthy
    • Not recommended for solo play
    • Questionable sharing of bomb and arrow gauge

Initially, this game started as a huge joke, an April Fool’s prank in 2019. However, due to people’s enthusiasm, the attention it gained, and the demand for an actual game, it eventually evolved into a real project. Roughly three years later, we find ourselves with this game on our screens.

The story, if I may call it that, is quite simple. A mage tries to resurrect a monster, but it lacks a body. Consequently, he attempts to retrieve the hero’s body to complete the creature. The game incorporates humor, which might be a hit or miss, as it tends to be a bit heavy.

Conan Chop Chop is an action-adventure RPG roguelike with procedurally generated levels. Luck plays a significant role in the game, and if you encounter challenging enemies early on, your progress might be limited. However, there are some concessions to ease, as each run earns you experience that can be used to gain levels, unlock new skills, or passive effects, such as starting the next run with higher health. Additionally, you regularly collect materials that you permanently keep and can exchange for additional armor or weapons.

In terms of gameplay, you choose one hero from the four available, each with unique abilities. Controls are intuitive, with one button for standard attacks, and others for dash, shield, bombs, and bow. Mastering these controls helps in fulfilling your tasks. Timing a shield activation triggers a counter-attack, and landing hits fills your rage gauge, boosting speed and damage. To use bombs and arrows, you must ensure their shared gauge is filled, waiting for it to regenerate after use. While it’s a drawback that the same gauge applies to both, the cooldown forces thoughtful choices.

Conan Chop Chop, however, suffers from some redundancy, and at times, the runs feel a bit too lengthy.

While the solo adventure might be somewhat tiresome, the game becomes significantly more enjoyable when playing with three friends in local or online co-op. It gains ease and dynamism, featuring complementary hero classes, providing hours of fun. This is undoubtedly the recommended way to experience the game.

In this game, players can fight and test their skills. I love this game. I’ve been playing for 60 hours with my friends, the same record, as we play together.

    Don't Get Chopped
    7
    • Pros
    • Good Couch co-op fun
    • Fast Paced Action
    • Cons
    • No Arnold :(

Conan Chop Chop is a rogue like where you can play alone of with up to 4 people.

You start out in a town and get the goal to beat 4 dungeons and beat there guardians to open a door and get a reward.
There are a few characters to pick from who all have there own different ability. (But lets face it you will probably pick Conan)

Combat is fast paced and feels pretty good. There is a good variety of enemies have there own way to efficiently and safely take down.
Most enemies go down pretty easy but this does not mean the game will be easy, most rooms are filled with enemies and you can quickly get overwhelmed especially in the later parts of a dungeon when there are a lot of different types of enemies.

During a run you also get money (don’t forget to smash every barrel you see) you can use this money on buying a better weapon or potions as well as charms which have different effects.
Of course this is a rogue like so if you die that means restarting the game.

Conan Chop Chop is a fun game to play with friends but it is not recommend to play with people who are not as experienced with video games.
