DayZ is a hardcore, open-world multiplayer survival game that is set in a post-apocalyptic environment overrun by infected and hostile survivors. From the second you spawn, DayZ puts you in a harsh world and gives you the same objective Noble Six had, “SURVIVE” all goals from here on out are solely up to you, from hunting down players, to building your very own home, the possibilities are endless. The map this game takes place in, in which everything is in a foreign language, features a multitude of terrain, abandoned towns, and farmlands encourages players to explore for loot or to use as refuge from other players. This game has a complex survival system, which includes hunger, thirst, temperature, and injury mechanics, all of which are very detailed, making you have to think about each choice carefully. A perfect example of this survival system is when you find some new clothes but are wet, meaning you have to dry them otherwise you would end up getting hypothermia, or another example is the food that you eat, making sure that it is edible otherwise you might get sick. DayZ’s immersion comes from its tension, from the second you hear a distant gunshot could mean either danger or opportunity, you would think “Can I trust this person, or should I betray them betray they plant one in my skull?”.Now there are some issues with DayZ, this game has faced bugs and design issues. Performance can be unstable at times and the visuals can look outdated as this was originally designed from the Arma3 Mod about zombies (I believe). This game due to its complexity can also add a very large learning curve for new players looking to learn the game, so it is best to search online for guides on how to play and slowly take things from there. You should also watch out for griefers or cheaters, as they can turn a very eventful match into a frustrating day for you. But if you crave a hardcore zombie survival game, then DayZ is perfect, just be sure to overlook the flaws :).
There is a lot I could say about DayZ but I’ll try to keep it short. This is a game that’ll put your patience to the ultimate test, but as soon as you start winning, no matter how small those wins are, you will be hooked. It starts with you waking up in a massive, deserted world with absolutely nothing, just those clothes on your back. That’s it and from there on in, it’s up to you to find some food, a drink and whatever else you can get your hands on just to keep from starving to death. There is no story to hold on to, no guiding hand, just pure, unadulterated survival. Every little creak of a tree or distant sound of leaves will have you jumping for cover, and every player you come across could either be your best mate or your death in a heartbeat.
I would say the thing that sets DayZ apart is the pure realism of it all. The world is quiet and pretty bleak, but that’s what makes it so captivating. Finding a dodgy old can of beans or a battered old backpack really is a cause for celebration since you’ve worked really hard for it. That nervous tension when you creep through a deserted town, trying not to get spotted by either the undead or any other players lurking about, yeah it’s a feeling that not many other games come close to matching. And when you finally meet someone who ain’t out to get you, teaming up and exploring the ruins together, it feels like you’ve actually achieved something real. The sense of freedom is just huge. You can go off hunting, try your hand at crafting something new, or just keep wandering and see where the road takes you.
Of course, DayZ has its downsides too. At times it’s going to be a bit buggy, weird movement, plenty of lag and getting the controls to suit you the way you want takes its time. Dying in one of those random, inexplicable moments is never much fun, and sometimes you’ll be wandering along for hours without much to show for it, which can get pretty slow. And if you’re playing solo, well, it can be a bit of a minefield you never know when you’ll run into some lunatic who’s out to end you.
Still, there’s just something special about DayZ, even if it’s not an easy game. When things do go right though, it’s just awesome, but when they don’t it can feel like the whole game is against you. So if you like your survival games with a healthy dose of uncertainty and unpredictability, DayZ is one you should definitely give a try. Oh, and one piece of advice, don’t get attached to loot or gear because sooner or later, you are going to lose it.
DayZ is a Zombie Apocalypse Online Multiplayer game where you can play either in FPS or 3rd person shooter style depending on what you choose.
The main aim of the game is to survive your character as long as possible through thick and thin obstacles of other hostile players, AI generated Zombies, Hunger and diseases!
You are spawned in various regions of a map, from the get go, you need to start collecting clothing, medicine, Guns & Ammunition!
Now here’s the difficult part starts! There is No Tutorial for anything in this game, you have to figure out everything by yourself by trying and testing or watching Gameplay videos on YouTube.
This game gets difficult because you have to keep your character Healthy by eating food, maintain normal body temperature, avoid diseases, avoid hunger, avoid being thirsty, find Guns & Ammunition (which itself is challenging) if you happen to find Gun, you wont find bullets & vice versa!
If you are new to DayZ, your initial days will be extremely hard to survive, before opponent players try to kill you, you may die by Hunger itself! But hang on to it, keep playing, keep Re-Spawning it, once you get hold of it, you will succeed in the long run! You just have to keep trying and bettering the need to survive!
You can Team up with other random strangers (players) and work together to survive & try to find loot, food, water, medicine etc
This game is definitely difficult, but not impossible!
7/10
I played more than 10 hours, every spawn is a new journey, a new story you have to create and survive!
