Diablo 4, Now where is Diablo?

    • Pros
    • Lots of Side Activities
    • Awesome cutscenes
    • Cons
    • Limited color customization
    • Pay-to-Play DLC's
    • Microtransactions

Diablo 4 is a dark, expansive action-RPG that revitalizes Blizzard’s beloved franchise by blending satisfying combat, deep customization, and a sprawling open world full of horrors to slay. As players traverse the ruins of Sanctuary, they’ll encounter a grim world driven by rich storytelling and beautifully rendered cutscenes that can lend weight to the classic battle between the Angels of The High Heavens and the Demons of The Burning Hells. The 4th installment still retains the core gameplay mechanic of slash and looting that regular fans have known to expect, while introducing an large open world, world bosses, seasonal systems, and various new classes that can offer diverse playstyles and build possibilities (Unless you play the same one over and over again, like me). Combat in Diablo 4 is engaging, while not being as powerful as our Diablo 3 classes, you can eventually build your character up to deal a massive amount of damage to the enemies. Each hit that you give can feel impactful, and the animations for various skills make every fight visually satisfying or just a massive blur while everything is dying around you. The world design is vast, with multiple regions ranging from a cold and frigid landscape to a dry desert, players can also expect to find little dungeons or attics to explore, giving players something to explore. Due to the game being an online game, you are bound to run into other players, mostly in public events like world bosses or the PvP fields. However, while this game may seem flawless, there are some drawbacks. As this game is a live service game, there is an always-online requirement which can deter those who have unstable connections or those who like to play offline. The Inventory and UI can feel clunky, making you have to take time to organize, and the endgame grind can fall into repetitive loops that don’t always reward the effort with meaningful progression.

Diablo 4 is the fourth game of Blizzard’s legendary action RPG series Diablo. It opens its doors again to dive into this dark and fantastic world.

The game digested and assimilated the good and bad points from the series’ past to the present and adopted the fast gameplay and long story arcs of the new era while remaining true to the origins of the series. Although old fans like me may be prejudiced at first about this new gameplay and ability changeability, this game will be like a cure for everyone after the disappointing release of Diablo 3.

We are once again sheltered in the war between the high heavens and the burning hells. Rebellious devils and angels, who were fed up with the war between angels and devils and built a shelter together, are fighting each other this time. Although the story seems like a war between black and white, it is an adventure with plenty of grey. The cinematics and intro credits give you goosebumps.

The remnants of the Horadrim, and thus this community, play a key role in this game as well. The game is about the events 50 years after Diablo 3. We are in a period where Deckard Cain is mentioned as a legend and shown great respect. While the war between the High Heavens and the Burning Hells has spread to the Sanctuary, millions of people have died there, and humanity, the nephalem’s lineage, has slowly begun to come to its senses over the past 50 years, a new threat awaits humanity at the door. In the power vacuum created as a result of the war, Lilith, the daughter of Mephisto, the lord of hatred, one of Diablo’s two siblings, becomes stronger in the world of the game, while people with weak faith submit to Lilith’s evil intentions and surrender their minds and bodies to this power, willingly or unintentionally. Believers who have turned their faces to the light have to fight and survive alongside Inarius’ team against these ambitions.

Diablo 4 will be one of the most ambitious and exciting games in its history and will definitely satisfy its fans. It offers a legendary experience by offering stunning graphics, an immersive story and unlimited game options. If you like the genre, you should definitely check it out. I strongly recommend it.

    • Pros
    • Nice graphics
    • Good sound design
    • Juicy fights
    • Cons
    • Endgame is boring
    • Group activities are hopelessly easy
    • Shameful monetization of the game with expensive skins and seasons

Diablo 4 is another installment in this famous series, but is it the best? In my opinion, no, because the king of the genre is still the second part. Diablo 4 can captivate you with its appearance, the location designs and their execution are at a very high level and at the moment it is the best-looking hack’n slash on the market. The graphics are pleasing to the eye, the spells cast by the heroes look spectacular at times. The game tells an interesting story from the beginning to the end of the campaign, but it is not a story that you will remember. Most of the cinematics are based on the game engine, which, although nice, does not reflect the quality of old Blizzard cinematics. There are only 2 truly nice, cinematic style cinematics at the beginning and end of the game. The gameplay is fun for several dozen hours until we reach the end of the campaign and endgame. Endgame is boring, the itemization is repetitive, the chance to get the best items is very small, and the game consists of visiting the same dungeons and tapping them over and over again in the hope that we will get the item we need. The game turns out to be a boring grindfest that gives no satisfaction. It is worth completing the campaign and playing more with different classes, but I would advise you to skip playing the seasons, which Blizzard additionally monetizes the game with a huge amount of expensive skins for characters and mounts. a game costing $80, in which you can buy a lot of skins costing from $30-60, should be ashamed of such practices.

    approach with caution
    7
    • Pros
    • It is a Diablo
    • Cons
    • Cash Grab
    • You miss older Diablos
    • My seasoned Diablo maniac dad prefers Halo
    • Blizzard lost its heart?

    My dad loves Diablo
    He spend nights killing enemies
His English wasn’t great so I was the quertermaster
    We teamed up like that
When we had a laptop we really teamed up on Diablo 2, 3

I bought Diablo4 for my retired dad.
    It was a christmas present

    He plays Callof Duty
He asked me his login info to be able to play Halo
When I asked him about Diablo he just made a “meh”

    Game didn’t sucked him in
It didn’t give him a new experience

    Maybe he is old
Maybe it is because he doesn’t understand the story well
Though do we play for the story (I red all the books by the way)

    He is disappointed
    So approach with caution

ARPG with hours upon hours of content

    • Pros
    • Beautiful graphics
    • Many dungeons
    • Events can be joined by anyone nearby
    • No global chat (less toxicity)
    • Tons of skins
    • Emotional campaign
    • Ralph Ineson
    • Cons
    • Not well optimized
    • Armour recolouring is limited
    • It takes a crazy long time to unlock your horse

Honestly, if the game was optimized better and you could unlock your horse when you reach the first major town, this game would be extremely close to perfect in my eyes.

I had to turn a lot of the graphics down due to poor optimization so my computer didn’t melt, but it’s still stunning.

I like the armour recolouring, but I wish it was a little more sophisticated. More options would be nice, and maybe a slider to adjust brightness.

The amount of time it took to unlock the horse was ridiculous in my eyes. Maybe I’m just really impatient.

Those complaints aside, I love this game.

The lack of global chat means the toxicity that ruins many online games for me is not there. Instead, they have little actions you can do to communicate with other players, like saying hello and thank you. People actually thank me for reviving them!

The campaign ending made me cry like a baby. I wanted to hug Lorath.

    ARPG for the masses
    8

“ARPG for the masses” – that’s exactly the best way to describe Diablo game in my opinion. It doesn’t have builds’ variety and balanced system of Grim Dawn. It is also not as massive or complex as Path of Exile. These games are a blessing for any ARPG enthusiast. Diablo IV, on another hand, is very simplistic when to compare it to more “professional ARPGs”. However, simplicity is a good thing on its own, because many people can enjoy the game without thinking too deep about their build and different in-game mechanics. Pair it with excellent story-telling for which Blizzard is known and you’ll get the game that anyone can enjoy. That’s exactly what happened right after Diablo 4 have been released: masses of people who never even heard of ARPG as a genre, played Diablo and had a good time with it. If you are a casual player – you’ll most likely will be pleased with your Diablo’s experience.

What about ARPGs veterans? Some people like it, some people hate it. Historically speaking, Diablo was the first ARPG for many players who call themselves veterans nowadays, so it has a special place in their hearts. I’m not from that category, though. And my experience with Diablo, although positive in most parts, wasn’t without frustrations. (Mind you, that we are talking here about Diablo IV before it even hit its 1st season).

So, first thing to mention is that despite there are multiple alternative skills you can choose while building your character, not all of these skills are equally powerful. Which leads to reality where some builds of the same class could erase hoards of monsters in a second or two, while other builds will be straggling with anything they do. Second thing, when I said earlier about Diablo 4 been simplistic, I didn’t mean it was hollow. On the contrary, it does have its own depths to explore. However, these depths could be very confusing. For example, damage mechanic: there are 2 groups of damage in the game – multiplicative and additive. These groups are further divided by types and Diablo’s tooltip is not very helpful in explaining which type is which. Yep, you’ll need to do separate research on that topic if you want to create a successful character.

The third point is I didn’t enjoy much while playing Diablo IV is its end game content. It’s very much doing the same thing over and over in order to level up and have a chance to find a slightly better item with .01% better stat you already have. Plainly speaking, it’s boring. And variety of monsters, or lack therefor, doesn’t help at all. Hopefully, 1st season, that is coming soon, will fix it to some degree.
