Developer OMYOG has set a firm release date for Ferocious. This narrative-driven survival game will launch on PC via Steam on December 4, 2025, and the studio has just released new details explaining how dinosaur can be controlled in the game.
The Dino Control Device is the headline system shown in the new trailer, which plays a major role in the dangerous prehistoric world. It can scan certain dinosaurs and send short commands such as follow, move to a place, attack a target, fetch items and in some cases work as a mount. Not every species responds to the device, so knowing which beasts you can influence becomes part of the tactical challenge.
That shift matters because Ferocious does not ask players to solve every fight with gunplay alone. The developers make it clear that the DCD opens different ways to approach encounters. You might send a dinosaur to smash a door, use a raptor to draw fire, or ride a beast into a fight. The result is more moments where quick thinking and environment knowledge matter as much as aim.
The team behind the game is talking about the island as a character. Screenwriters and visual artists with film and theme-park experience helped shape levels so they tell small stories and hint at a past that players can piece together. That work shows up in the trailers as landmarks, ruined installations and pockets of detail meant to reward exploration rather than just fill space.
Ferocious is built around focused, semi open levels. Think of compact zones that let you choose routes and tactics without turning the map into an aimless plain. The design aims to keep pacing tight while still offering side paths, ambush spots and places to scout or hide.
The island divides into distinct biomes that change how you move and fight. The coast feels exposed and weather can push engagements into narrow choke points. Canyons bring vertical fights and hidden shortcuts. Lowlands slow you down and hide small dangers in water and reed. Wide plains reward spotting threats early but leave you vulnerable. The deep jungle forces close work and sudden clashes. Each area tweaks enemy placement and level flow so you have to adjust tactics rather than repeat the same routine.
Environmental detail is not only visual. The developers have shown destructible wooden structures and supports, falling trees and breakable concrete. Those elements can change how a fight plays out, for example by opening new routes or collapsing a cover point. Scattered camps, gear and partial logs help sell the idea that the island has been fought over, which gives context to the mercs and other human threats you will face.
For players who like dinosaurs, tense combat and a world that responds to your choices, Ferocious may not be something you want to miss out on, and will be available this Thursday on Steam for $24.99.
