Duckside sounded like it could’ve been a funny and fresh twist on the survival genre but in practise it fels more like a cheap rust ripoff with ducks slapped on top. The core loop is almost identical – gather, craft, shoot – only with less depth and polish. The novelty of playing as an armed duck wears off quickly, leaving behind repetitive grinding and shallow mechanics. Bugs and balance issues don’t help, and the game’s humor can’t carry it past feeling unfinished. Unless you’re desperate for a survival fix, this one struggles to stand on its own.
I had some great fun with the game, even finding experienced players and dying a lot. Its uniqueness is amazing, it’s not every day that you play a game where you’re a duck with a helmet holding an ak-47 flying around and fighting enemies lol. Graphics are not the best, but the gameplay is good. It’s a great game for you and your friends to have some fun while searching for something different, specially if you get it in a sale!
