After the successful launch of Far From Home’s post-apocalyptic Forever Skies, the developers have released their first major update. The Viral Evolution comes with a new location to explore, creatures, viruses, and a continuation of the story.
Players can now extract four new viruses from creatures and plants found in the world. These viruses can then be used to craft three new boosters. The immunity booster increases the speed of your immune system regeneration, while the Stomach Filler and Water Retention boosters slow down the depletion of hunger and water bars, respectively.
Two enemies have been added to the world above the dust. While these are not super dangerous, it is something to be aware of when exploring the old structures. The Crustpede hangs upside down from beams and will attack the player when they get too close. When killing it, you get some meat that can be boiled in the electric cooker. The Thorn Bees can be found circling their nest, which provides honey that is used in some new recipes.

Forever Skies has launched its latest Viral Evolution update, introducing new locations, enemies, additional viruses, resources, and a lot more.#foreverskies #indiegame @flyforeverskies pic.twitter.com/GP5iMGYCIT
The big addition to this update is a brand new garden tower variant. The infected greenhouse is covered by a huge plant that can damage the player if they get into physical contact with it. If this was not bad enough, its seeds also release a toxic cloud that will kill you if you stick around too long. This is where the Immunity Booster comes in, as it will protect you for a short time, or you can use one of the three new immunity boosting items. The Capsaicin Electrolyte Pill, Haemoglobin Purifier, and Brain Cleanser will only slightly boost your immune system, making it more effective against other viruses like Photophobia and others that do not constantly drain the bar.
The new location has a few new objects to scan, the medical station being one of them.
The story has been extended with new quests and some extra lore tablets.
What is your favorite new feature from Forever Skies’ first major update?
