The developer Creepy Jar has released their newest free update for Green Hell. The developers have supported the game for years now, and the new Fortification update is the 18th for the game so far.
With this update, they will are addressing one of my biggest issues with the game, and that is the lack of defensive structures to defend you and your buildings from hostile tribe members or other predatory animals looking for an easy meal.
The first and most feeble of the defensive structures is the fence, which is easily made with wood or bamboo and is a quick defensive fortification to throw up. Not only can it improve the aesthetics of your camp and allow you to pen off areas, but it will also provide you with a few more seconds before the cannibals break it down.

Next on the list is one made famous with Roman armies on the march: the Palisades, a strong wall made by lashing either wood or bamboo logs together and sharpening them to a point on top to prevent any curious bystanders from climbing over them. There are only a few problems with the palisades, and that is that they are very tall, and if you build four sets of them around you, the enemy won’t be able to get in, but you also won’t be able to exit. Luckily, the next items on this list will help overcome the negatives of the palisades.
“Open the gates.” That’s right, we can now build sturdy gates to let us in and out of our bases. Just make sure to close them behind you because I’m sure you don’t want to return to your base to find a few unfriendly natives eating all your porridge and testing out your beds.
Lookout platforms are the last defensive structure to go over. This little platform looks like some rickety scaffolding and isn’t super tall, but it is just the right height to allow you to look over your palisade walls and defend your luscious jungle fort with your bow or spears in relative safety.

Creepy Jar has provided us with so many presents before the holidays, but they have also given one to the natives as well. The developers have graced the jungle peeps with enhanced AI, allowing them to better maneuver around not only the forest but also your camp as well. They will look for ways to get to you, whether you are hiding in a structure or being able to enter low structures, and find the best path to get to you. So no more playing hide and seek with them popping in and out of buildings.
Besides some basic optimizations and bug fixes, that arrived in this update, the developers wanted us to know that they are hard at work on the next update to bring even more awesome ideas and mechanics to the game.
What would you like to see in the next updates?
