Saber Interactive, the studio behind the widely known World War Z: Aftermath and the recent Warhammer 40,000: Space Marines 2, is getting ready to release a demo for their upcoming rebuilding game RoadCraft.
A natural disaster has hit the area and ruined not only the landscape and buildings but also the industry in the region. As a leader of a restoration company, it is your job to fix up the various locales with heavy machinery. As you gather materials, you can bring them back to a recycling plant and reuse the components to construct new pipes and other things you need, or start a sand quarry to gain easy access to road materials.
During the demo, you can expect three handcrafted missions. You will perform jobs like cutting down trees, using a bulldozer to clean old pathways and rebuild them so you can order new material for other jobs, and re-establishing the connection between a concrete factory and the power grid by replacing defective pipes. Each mission spawns you on a randomly generated map with additional challenges to overcome and complete. As stated before, you are able to play the full demo with up to three of your friends. You can work on your own tasks or collaborate to get jobs done quickly.
The game tries to be as realistic as possible, so weight and size matter while building. Some tasks, like laying roads, may take more effort since there are multiple jobs to do before you are finished, from clearing the path to filling it, making sure it is flat, and more. Of course, sometimes a quick solution is better. While working in some areas, it might be easier to create temporary tracks or simple wooden bridges over a creek.
RoadCraft will be part of the Steam Next Fest starting on February 24th. Are you going to try the game alone or with friends?
