I have really enjoyed this game so far! Kind of calm, easy going playtime when I’m trying to relax. I’ve pretty much done everything I can up to this point except some of the progression in the cooking stuff, which isn’t really my thing, I’ll admit, but it’s been really fun! Looking forward to the next update! Definitely a good one to pick up if you like the cleanup and create kind of gameplay

Fun, cozy and waiting for more

    • Pros
    • Mostly easy to understand
    • Lots to discover
    • Survival mechanics
    • Low fighting
    • More content being added
    • Cons
    • Fishing mechanic not so easy to understand without tutorial
    • Can get too repetitive (boring)

This game is very fun so far, and it gets better as they add more content. Storage starts small, but I love the rotation mechanics to see all the boxes at once.

I like that just about everything can be broken down if needed. And getting things set up for automation is really good.

A tutorial for all mechanics like fishing would be great, as I had to Google what it needed. It was fine after I figured it out. But it needs to be more defined in game.

Some things I think take way too much material, but that is with just about every game, and they do adjustments with updates. They listen to feedback a lot.

The survival aspect is fun and relaxing. The building is easy, but space is a premium. Thankfully, they added a mechanic to move things instead of having to break and rebuild.

Exploring the map is fun and interesting. The story is basic at this point but is interesting and I can’t wait for more.

A cozy survival game in a post-apocalyptic world

    • Pros
    • Great concept (Surviving on a rooftop in a post-apocalyptic setting)
    • Cozy Survival
    • Vibrant Graphics
    • Variety of crafting tasks
    • Constant Evolution
    • Cons
    • Being in Early Access you can encounter some bugs

In a not-so-distant future, in a galaxy far, far away :), there was a city named Cosmopolis, a gigantic city made of skyscrapers, now submerged by the waters. On one of the rooftops, a man emerges from hibernation while civilization has collapsed due to war. It’s time to discover more about the past & forge a new future (I feels like a grandfather telling a story to his grandchildren). This man must build a new base, as he can now enjoy the bright sun & breathtaking views alone, with nature naturally reclaiming its rights. & that’s how our game begins.

So, “I Am Future” is a 3rd-person crafting survival game. With various tasks like cultivating, cooking, gathering resources, & crafting items, you have to build a camp & progressively explore environments through quests.

The adventure starts with a lack of resources. Fortunately, the rooftop where you emerge is full of essential survival equipment such as food, wood, & electrical items. Thorough exploration of the rooftop is crucial to gather these elements. Using a mechanical arm, you can install various equipment like a mechanical glove, a hammer, or a saw to facilitate your progress.

To advance in the adventure & continue exploring, it’s essential to acquire & find the right materials to upgrade these tools, making them more robust to overcome obstacles. Most necessary materials are found along your path, to be either collected or disassembled. In other cases, you’ll have to craft them by assembling objects or buying them from robot-run shops.

Throughout the adventure, you can craft plans to install new machines, such as campfires, generators, or resource transformation machines. Implementing these plans requires their use, followed by finding an optimal location to set up your creations. Once the location is found, all that’s left is to gather the necessary items for crafting.

The game offers a relatively gentle survival system. Food will always be accessible. In the worst case, if you run out of food & can’t replenish, you’ll only lose a few health points at a very slow rate, giving you time to recharge. If your health points drop to zero, you’ll faint for a few minutes & return with 25 HP to start afresh. This accentuates the cozy aspect of the game.

Graphically, the game is vibrant, even though we’re accustomed to post-apocalyptic worlds being more muted & dark. Yet, this touch of color gives a unique & lively atmosphere to the devastated universe. Regarding sound design, the soundtrack is calm & soothing (like in a farm simulation game), which is pleasant for surviving in this adventure, although I would have liked it to be a bit more post-apo.

Although “I Am Future” is in Early Access & may have some bugs, it stands out with innovative ideas in both construction & survival. The uniqueness of surviving on a rooftop gives it a noticeable distinction from other games in the genre. Moreover, the game is continuously evolving, with the regular addition of new elements through updates.

Relaxing Survival with Lots of Potential

    • Super Chill Survival Game
    • Graphics
    • Easy to Learn
    • Storyline
    • No Tool Durability
    • Cons
    • Small Amount of Storage at Start

Early Access of I AM FUTURE is fun. This is definitely a super chill survival game that lets one sit back, relax and unwind.

Building, Cooking, Fishing, Growing Food, Electricity, and Exploring (On Foot and with a Drone) is all part of the game.

If you like to take things apart for resources in different ways (Dismantle, Drill, Saw, Hammer) this one has you covered. Even better is there is no worry about your tools breaking with use, as there is no tool durability. Taking everything apart is almost therapeutic in the way the game has been designed.

There is also no rush for the constant need to feed your hunger. Although hunger is a thing in the game, you can play for a while when at 0 hunger level and still be able to find, make, and eat your food. Your health slowly ticks away when hungry and if you do hit zero health, you pass out, recover consciousness and lose a small amount of materials. Need your health back? Sleep for a few hours.

The game is still in early access at the time of the review and it is only going to get better as new zones are unlocked, new buildable items released, and more of the storyline uncovered.

    A Cozy Post-Apocolypse Experience

    • Pros
    • Finding different clothing
    • Interesting story
    • Huge amount of things to do
    • Very relaxing
    • I can break down almost everything
    • Good progression
    • Cons
    • Not a lot of storage options
    • Not much happens at night
    • No decorative items to craft

I was lucky enough to win a copy of this game from Gameoneer on Twitter, and I’m so happy I did. I streamed it on Twitch, and my viewers loved it as much as I did.

There are different clothing and hair style options you can find which I loved, and I’m glad to see on the road map that they are planning to add more! I love being silly and making different outfits for him. There were also so many other things to do that at times I was a little overwhelmed, but overall I found it so relaxing to just immerse myself into this world and work towards cleaning up his area. I wish though that there were decorative items to craft, such as furniture, to make a nice little living space for him.

I found the story compelling and interesting. I love the companions you can meet along the way and bring to your camp, and the cliffhanger the EA story ended on makes me very excited to see where the devs go next.

It took me roughly 3 streams to complete the Early Access story content, so I would say roughly 9 – 10 hours. Also, there was still so much left to explore and deconstruct that I could easily sink many more hours into it.

In terms of negatives, there were a few though more annoyances than anything. There are very little storage options available, so I ended up making piles of items instead of having numerous boxes. The boxes available are great but don’t hold much and there is no way to get larger ones at the time of writing this review. Also, not much seems to happen at night. The worm-like creatures sometimes get stuck and stop moving, and there’s no real danger. Some nights I could just leave my plants and go about my business and maybe I might lose one, but there was no sense of urgency.

Overall, extremely positive experience, and I can’t wait for more updates. I recommend this game to anyone who loves crafting games with survival mechanics.
