Uuvana Studios has revealed upcoming features in their latest devlog for their online Animal Crossing inspired survival game, Longvinter.
In this game, you and a lot of other players are on an island trying to survive by harvesting resources, farming, fishing, and building a house surrounded by automatic turrets to protect yourself and your supplies from other players. If the concept of Animal Crossing with guns sounds interesting to you, Longvinter is currently on sale during the Steam Summer Sale.
The game is also running a Summer event of its own. If you log in for at least 30 minutes between now and the 31st of July, you will receive a cosmetic Panama hat. There is also a search going on for a delightful frog hat which comes in many colors and is hidden somewhere on the island.
In a recent devlog, the developers have shared information about a couple of upcoming features and new mechanics.
Caves are coming to the island of Longvinter filled with various ores to mine. These randomly generated areas will be similar to the already established bunkers in the game. And as mentioned before, yes, mining will become one of the new skill-based mechanics in the game along with smelting the ores into bars. These new resources can be used to craft a variety of new items, like an all-new garden set. To help players ease into this new skill, there will also be a dedicated quest line leading you through the new content.

After six months and a lot of hints, the devs officially revealed they will be adding pets to the game in the form of wolves. These beasts can help the player hunt wildlife once tamed, and can also be ridden to get around the island even faster.
Some smaller additions planned are the ability to name storage units for better sorting of items, passive fishing nets and traps, and the equipment tab will be reworked to make it more user-friendly.
What new feature are you looking forward to most? Let me know in the comments.
