Lost Skies feels like a game built around a great idea that simply isn’t ready yet. The flying and traversal between floating islands are enjoyable at first, but that initial sense of wonder fades quickly due to the lack of content and clear direction. The world looks nice, yet feels empty, and progression is thin enough that it starts to feel repetitive fast. I got the game through this month’s Humble Choice, and while I don’t regret trying it, it’s hard to recommend beyond curiosity or co-op experimentation. Right now, it plays more like a tech demo than a fully realized adventure.
This game has the potential to be a compelling flight combat game, especially for fans of realism and multiplayer battles. However, its current state is marred by technical issues, steep learning curve, and a lack of polish. Players seeking a smooth, accessible experience may find it frustrating, while hardcore flight sim fans might appreciate its depth despite its flaws. With further development and refinement, Lost Skies could soar higher, but as it stands, it’s a somewhat rough flight that struggles to fully take off.
The story progress in the demo / tutorial phase was ok but nothing really gripping. Some people might say a tutorial phase is just meant to teach you mechanics, and that’s okay, but I feel it still needs to hook you into wanting to progress.
Everything else about the game is pretty basic, so the Unique Selling Proposition is the “realistic” grapple traversal (which is already irritating); the setting (which so far looks mediocre); and the story (which didn’t have enough hook to make me want to keep exploring).
I guess the game is okay if you are the type of survival game player who sets their own goals.
