Nightingale Reveals More Details about the Realm Cards System

Become an architect of your world.

Inflexion Games has given us a behind-the-scenes look into the realm card system in the upcoming survival game Nightingale.

Inflexion’s Aaryn Flynn and Alexei Pepers explain that you will be able to get new recipes to craft cards as you progress through the game. All the realm cards will have different properties and shape the world how you want it to be. Once you find a portal randomly scattered around in the main world you can combine up to five different cards. The realm cards will allow you to pick the biome, set the amount of wildlife, make it so the sun never sets, choose the season the realm is set in and other effects you can have on the world.

Nightingale Realm cards

There are three sets of realm cards. The biome cards will allow you to choose your next destination whether it’s desert, forest, or swamp. Three biomes will be introduced during an early access launch with plans to add more later on. Major cards are used for big changes such as setting an endless daytime. Minor cards will add small adjustments to the world.

When you make your decision and use the cards you want, the portal will open and generate a new random world with your specifications in mind. You will be able to enter and leave the new world you created until the portal is closed. Even when using the same cards twice will not result in the exact same world.

When playing co-op, you or your friend will be able to open a portal for both of you to go through. If you find a world that you like you can set it as your respite realm. Doing so will make this place your home world and if you are in danger you can always fast-travel to this realm. So for those who were wondering if you could lock your friends up by closing a portal behind them, the answer seems to be no since they can just teleport back to their respite realm.

The developers have mentioned that they are going to add a lot more new realm cards as the game develops.

What kind of cards would you like to see in Nightingale? Let me know in the comments.
