Developer GFA Games has released Pioner into Early Access, making the long-awaited post-apocalyptic MMO available to players worldwide.
Pioner takes place on Tartarus, a large open-world island shaped by Soviet-era ruins and strange sci-fi anomalies. Players are encouraged to move carefully through the world, balancing combat, survival needs, and story progression while navigating both hostile environments and other players.
The game is built as a social MMO experience where cooperation and conflict exist side by side. You can follow a main story campaign supported by side quests and faction missions, or focus on open-world activities such as raids, world events, and high-risk PvP areas. Progression is tied to influence rather than simple character levels, unlocking better merchant inventories, improved loot quality, and stronger non-combat abilities over time.
Weapon handling and customization play a major role in gameplay. Firearms are designed with a realistic feel and can be heavily modified using scavenged parts and crafted components. Survival systems such as hunger, rest, and resource management add pressure during longer expeditions, especially when venturing into contested zones where mistakes can be costly.

Alongside the Early Access launch, the developers have outlined a roadmap covering the first quarter of 2026. The current launch period introduces seasonal content, including a New Year event at the Wandering Pass, new world events, and themed items. January is set to bring the first major update, expanding the main storyline with a new story quest, additional world events, a new raid, and a fresh PvP map. This update also marks the arrival of the first planned story expansion.
February continues the narrative with another main story quest and more world events, while additional features are planned to be revealed closer to release. March is positioned as a major milestone update, though details remain in secret for now.
GFA Games describes the current build as a strong foundation rather than a finished product. The studio plans to deliver regular updates, live events, and QoL improvements throughout Early Access, with a strong focus on community feedback.
Pioner is available on Steam for $29.99 with a limited 10% launch discount.
