Realistic Survival Game ‘The Last Plague: Blight’ is Out Now on Steam

Could you survive the deadly plague?

If you are looking for a survival game based on realism that promises to immerse you in its world and story, then developer Original Studios has a treat for you. They have just released their newly developed game, The Last Plague: Blight. The game features hours of story content to follow, procedurally generated worlds to explore, and a free-building system for constructing your base.

The world is plagued by a disease called the Blight. After escaping its effects, you fled far from home and now find yourself weak and hungry in the wilderness. However, you are not safe from it yet. Your goal is to keep moving forward, as you are humanity’s last hope to uncover a cure for this illness. But the Blight isn’t the only threat trying to kill you. Dangerous animals, like wolves, roam the area and will attack on sight.

Gathering resources and crafting are quite the undertaking in The Last Plague. Every material you harvest must be properly treated before it can be used to craft something. Logs need to be chopped into smaller pieces before they can be thrown on the campfire, and water must be boiled before consumption. All these tasks take time, but they are designed to make the game feel more realistic.

Building, on the other hand, is much simpler by comparison. You can freely place structures wherever you like, as it’s not confined to a grid like in many other games. Placing structures is as easy as selecting what you want, and a ghost item will appear that you can drag around the screen to your desired location. However, there are still a few requirements when constructing, such as with fences. While you can make them any size you want, you need to place pillars in the ground first before adding the rest, making the building process more in line with real life.

The developers of The Last Plague: Blight have already shared details about what players can expect following the game’s release. This includes an expanded storyline with a focus on long-term objectives, extending it from a five-to-seven-hour quest chain to a 50-hour story mode. Players will also have the opportunity to collaborate in events and trade with NPC survivors.

New features include the addition of a fishing mechanic, the ability to customize your character (including gender), and an expanded health system where players can sustain injuries and wounds, enhancing the realism the developers are aiming for. Animals play a significant role in both survival and civilization, and the option to tame them is being developed. There will also be controller support and more language options throughout the early access period.

The Last Plague: Blight is available on Steam for $16.99. The game also has a free demo if you want to try it out.
