Lavaboots Studio has released an update for their Sea of Thieves-inspired survival game Salt 2: Shores of Gold. The new update focuses on bringing a unique experience not seen before in the game.

Explore a world underwater

In the next expansion to Salt 2, you will get the ability to swim and this will open up many new possibilities. 

When exploring the seas, you will find rocks poking out from under the water. This indicates that there is a cave down below so hop off your ship and start swimming down. While air is limited you can find bubble streams in the water and you will be able to use these to get a bit of oxygen back. 

These caves will have a more laid-back feel than the regular dungeons in the game. Complete puzzles, search for treasure and enjoy the beautiful underwater atmosphere. 

There are some unique treasures to look for like pearls and aquastones.

This update also introduced a new guild, the Sea Divers. Here you can obtain quests regarding the new underwater content that will give special rewards like a trident, outfits, or new ship cosmetics.

The shovel will finally get a use. You can now use it to dig up buried treasures found on deserted islands for some gold or valuable loot.
