This game was for me a wonderful improvement to the first one, it makes justice to the STALKER series and actually is a huge improvement. still had some bug, but for me it was wonderful to burry more than 75h into it just exploring and finding more and more things. The way they created bounds on the map is amazing. Some mobs are just painful, but you learn your way around. Could have more weapons joices and more weapon customisation
As an open minded gamer, I honestly felt like I stepped into a time machine with stalker 2: heart of chornobyl. Right from the start, everything about it screams early 2000s – not in a nostalgic way but more like a forgotten game dug out from a dusty hard drive. The graphics are oddly dated, with rough textures and stiff animations. The UI feels clunky, the map is borderline unusable and moving around or looting things just feels… ancient.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying the game is outright bad. It has this raw, gritty atmosphere that some players will definitely vibe with. But for me, it’s like all modern quality-of-life improvements we’ve come to expect in games over the past two decades are just completely missing. Starting a new campaign is a chore and the total lack of a proper tutorial means you’ll likely die five times in your first ten minutes just like I did.
Some parts try to be mysterious or deep but just end up frustrating. For example, there are these energetic anomalies in the open world that sometimes guide you to secret loot with cound cues – cool, right? Except other times they just lure you into unavoidable death (even if you can somehow discover their secret once you unlock some talents or learn the game still doesn’t mean new players should experience this in their first 15 mins because it’s super frustrating). Then there’s the haunted ship encounter: invisible ghost throwing cardboard boxes at you. You can’t kill them, can’t dodge the boxes, can’t even break all the props in the room and each hit takes half of your health. I even got jump-scared by a box spawning behind me in an empty room. Yes, I entered empty room thinking that I’m safe and to my surprise the moment I turned around I got hit by prop that wasn’t even in the room few seconds ago.
I know there’s a fanbase for this kind of punishing, immersive experience but me and two of my friends bounced off it fast. Maybe I’ll try again in a year or two, once they polish it up and add some much needed QoL fixes. Right now, it’s just not for me.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 delivers a haunting and captivating experience that rewards patience and strategic thinking. The Zone feels alive, dangerous, and unpredictable. While there are a few technical hiccups, they’re overshadowed by the game’s atmosphere, depth, and ambition. A must-play for fans of immersive survival shooters.
The game is simply awesome as it is like the Stalker from 2007, but that is also bad for those who never played it and may have it hard to follow both the gameplay and the story, that totally links with the events of previous one. You roam the zone and you have to survive while trying to understand what is happening and meeting lots of factions. Btw, be careful at night, hard to tell factions a part and if you shot a friendly all the others will kill you XD All in all, an experience that needs to be played but maybe not for everybody.
Absolutely worth picking up whether you have game pass or not.
This is the first time playing a Stalker Game. I have played a different one but only for a short time.
I really love the Landscapes and Graphics of this game and the story is interesting with a lot of decisions you can make.
I encountered only two bugs after some hours of playing. Some NPCs walk on a spot and block the doorway (but you can walk through them), and some Quests continue to pop up and make sounds the entire time.
There are a lot of enemy encounters at the beginning and it’s difficult to survive them. I haven’t died yet, but there were some close calls.
But over all it’s a really good game and I’m surprised that other games weren’t able to be like Stalker 2.
