Fans of the popular wilderness survival game Green Hell were excited when developer Creepy Jar announced their next project last year, initially called Chimera and later renamed StarRupture. Now, they have revealed the first glimpse of gameplay. This two-minute showcase focuses primarily on combat and how NOT to survive an exploding star.
StarRupture is built around three primary mechanics: base-building, exploration, and combat. You play as a convicted exile tasked with mining and industrial expansion on a distant planet orbiting the star Ruptura, set in the far future. The game involves protecting bases from waves of hostile alien creatures while also facing a natural cataclysm, as shown in the recent trailer. You can play solo or with friends in co-op mode.

During the gameplay reveal, we got a look at the early UI, which resembles those found in similar genres. Players need food and water to survive and maintain their health. Additionally, there is a shield bar and a skull icon above the hunger and thirst indicators, though it is unclear what the skull represents at this time.
The teaser begins with the player building a basic defense turret and loading it with bullets before turning around and shooting into a mass of enemies, along with the turret’s assistance. Later, the player moves toward what appears to be a main base, featuring numerous auto-crafters producing items, machines extracting gas from the ground, and both wind and solar farms generating substantial power. At this point, a variety of creatures are attacking the base from all sides. However, this does not seem to be the greatest threat, as the star Ruptura is on the verge of exploding. The event happens quickly, and although the player dies in the teaser, it appears they were moving toward something with purpose. This suggests that players will likely be saved from the intense heat by seeking refuge in their shelter.
