    Rinse and repeat: Start over

Start Over is a fun coop game that that has a lot of potential. You get your own Island in a harsh world, with nothing but your skills and a will to live to help you survive. It kinda reminds me of 7 Days to die and Ark, meaning that you have to do everything from scratch. From crafting tools, building shelter and slowly carving out a safe space in a world that constantly tries to kill you. The visuals are stunning and realistic, with a mix of urban ruins and wild nature to keep things interesting and make you go out and explore.

One of the good things in this game is survival mechanics. They can be tough at the moments, but they aren’t overwhelming. You can really feel the struggle of gathering food, staying warm and avoiding danger, especially early on.
The crafting system is deep, but building up your base from a few scraps into something solid will take more resources than needed, which in the end will make you feel like you really earned it. It also has multiplayer which adds a lot, playing solo it is not that fun especially because of grinding, having a friend or too helps a lot.

Now about downsides, this game being early access has quite a few of them. As I mentioned before, building takes unnecessary large amount of materials up to a point where it gets real tiring. A lot of things aren’t explained clearly, and it’s easy to get overwhelmed in the beginning. There’s also occasional bugs or janky moments, which isn’t uncommon in survival games but can still be frustrating. And one thing I really dislike is missing the dot or crosshair during gameplay, as I like to have it on all the time, so I know exactly where I’m pointing.

Overall Start Over could be a solid survival game in the future as it seems that devs are still actively working on it, but for the state and price it is now in my opinion it is not worth it. That being said you could still enjoy it, especially if you like working hard to build something from nothing and have friends willing to help.

Great survival game especially in coop mode. Map is great, the nature on it is realistic, plus cool environment. Crafting is easy, resource extraction is not difficult, but some are hard to find. Graphics pleasant to the eye, textures are clear, animation is crooked. Sounds nice. But one to explore the map will be boring, I recommend playing only with friends. I am waiting for new updates and more content.

    "Peaceful" mode
    6

From what I’ve played under the “Peaceful” mode is JUST the kind of game I have been looking for! No constant attacks on my home, but dangers at camps/from animals, roaming encouraged and needed, easy intuitive game. Yes, it definitely could use some work on a few things, but I have enjoyed my play with Start Over so far.

Things I hope get some attention at some point:
-User interface: Its fine and is completely manageable, but for refinement, I’d say a more organized method to the madness is needed. Categories for crafting (ie Iron, Wood, etc or something to that point) I think would be the best!
-More POI’s: I know this will eventually be done on its own, so I’m not trippin’ at all.
-Animations 😀 They are a bit janky, but do NOT harm the game much if at all. Currently you can see your body when you kneel/crouch which is nice, but then you can turn your head 360 like an owl lol..also NOT a deal breaker.

This game has been more or less what I’ve been trying to find for quite some time and only expect it to get better. All my gripes are what usually ends up on most devs natural updates so I’m ok with just posting up and getting some time in until it drops.

I would recommend this to anyone that enjoys survival games. Good work GUYS!

    UPDATE AFTER 24HR PLAYTIME:
I still like the game. Ihave my opinions on how the combat would be better, but I still REALLY like this game in the peaceful mode. I am hording every material known to man and have gotten close to getting the TIER4 workbench and and soon to really start setting up my base. ONCE I’m done there, I might change the mode so where I get attacked, but not yet. From what I hear the waves are intense, and there is NO way I think I could pull it off with 60x 5.56 and maybe 20 Lapua rounds haha.

-PLENTY of resources (you won’t be able to do anything if you don’t invest in upgrading to the next workbench)
-PLENTY of crap to build hahah. REALLY resource intensive , but like i said. Plenty of resources around.
    – Combat/AI/Animal AI could use some work, but for how I play it right now its perfectly fine.
-Map still feels a bit empty, but there are definitely places to find. Caves/camps etc.
-The loadie drops are a nice touch. Has some nice rare items from time to time and are usually pretty helpful items.

    STILL like the game.
6.4/10 because I can see some real potential to come. When I see the updates roll out in the future I’m pretty sure it will slowly climb to an solid 7-8
