Wales Interactive’s newest round-based survival shooter Sker Ritual releases a week ahead of its original release date. This is a welcome surprise in a year with nothing but delays. 

Combat

There are a few more ways to kill the faceless enemies in this game than just using your guns. You have a special ability that charges up when you kill the monsters and when it is fully charged you can create a huge explosion around your character.

Every few rounds you get an item called the “Miracle Coin”. With this, you can upgrade your equipment by choosing from a random assortment of choices. This can slow enemies down when they get close or give every bullet poison damage for example.

The basic weak guns can be acquired at the “laughing policeman” for little money. If you want to have a chance at getting a powerful weapon you need to visit Lucky. Lucky is a dog that also happens to be a gambling weapon dealer. Give him 900 of your points and he gives you a random firearm. Spread out over the map you will find perk stations, these give different buffs to the player like more health or a faster rate of fire.

For those who do not want to hurt the enemies or just ran out of bullets and money to buy more, you are in luck. There are a variety of monsters and some will shoot lasers while others shoot fireballs and explode, these attacks will also harm their friends and give you points.

Every five rounds a boss type of enemy will spawn. This large guy will walk up to the player to beat them up and has a lot of health so don’t get caught.

Story

 Sker Ritual is a spiritual successor to one of Wales Interactive’s other games: Maid of Sker.

This game will follow the story of Maid of Sker, The developers said this is not considered a sequel and therefore will not continue or replace a possible Maid of Sker 2.

The story will be pushed out into four episodes. The first of these will be present at the launch and the other three will be released over the next half a year.

Cosmetics

There are multiple cosmetics to collect from masks to title screen backgrounds and even different ways to whistle. You can obtain these from either the Sker pass which has over 50 cosmetics to get or buy the DLC which there are currently at launch two off. 

Road Map

Over the next couple of months episodes 2, 3, and 4 will be released which contain a new map, cosmetics, story, secrets, and much more. The full release update 1.0 is scheduled to be available by April of 2023.

Sker Ritual enters early access on October 6, 2022.
