TerraTech Worlds is a crafting/open-world exploration game which combines a few unique takes on the genre with a cumbersome user-interface and many missing quality-of-life features which you can find in similar titles.
While there is a lot of work that needs to be done, it is fun. My biggest complaint is the terrain. It is so hard to get around because of the steep hills. Makes it nearly impossible to have a single base. This wouldn’t be a problem if part inventory was shared between bases. A big change from Terratech, but it seems they are going for more realistic for Terratech worlds.I’m very impressed with how they made it feel like TerraTech but still made it feel like a different game. I love the resource gathering of hauling chunks around after cracking them into peaces. do have one major issue with that system but I’m pretty sure it will get fixed and it’s the camera getting stuck on the resources you have on your flat bed. Other than that I just want better tutorial stuff cause I was lost for a while as I didn’t notice that plants could be destroyed cause they didn’t have any health UI or hit sounds (might be fixed or fixed soon) and I want all the descriptions of everything to know what they do cause I was lost a bit. Also maybe adding some stuff to properly explain all the temperature stuff and reactor and efficiency stuff. Some info on exactly what all the little warning icon mean would help a lot with that. With all that said I’m pretty sure all of those will be fixed in the future if not the next update.
One of the biggest things I loved about Terratech was the crafting system, where if you queued up a part, it would move the required resources to the fabricators to make the part and any required components from the base resources. It would also refine those resources as needed. Worlds currently doesn’t do that and I would love to see that come into play. Space Engineers has a similar conveyor system and gets it to work.
Give it a chance!
This game is an open world/base building/combat simulator game with a lot of customization and a lot of fun with friends 🙂
