Just over a month ago, Unknown Worlds announced a mobile version of one of the most well-known survival games, developed in collaboration with Playdigious, who helped optimize the experience for mobiles. Today, it officially launched on both Android and iOS.
With only a few changes made for mobile play, the core game stays true to its console and PC counterparts. You crash land onto an alien planet covered in water. To survive, you need to explore the depths and harvest whatever resources you can, from plants to ores. Because of the crash, there are many scannable objects scattered throughout the ocean that unlock new and better tools. However, you’re not as alone as you might think. Beyond the sea creatures, you’ll come across abandoned structures that hint at something more. Your mission is to go as deep as possible, gather the materials you need, and find a way off the planet and back home.
This could be the best survival game on mobile this year 😍

It’s time to grab your phone and go for a dive! The award-winning Subnautica is now available on Android and iOS. pic.twitter.com/uVQtwtcLh4
This version comes with full mobile and MFI controller support, achievements that can be obtained through Game Center if you’re playing on an Apple device, and most importantly, cloud save support. You’ll also be able to link your save file to another device, whether it’s running Android or iOS, and continue your progress seamlessly. Aside from the expected visual downgrade to keep your phone from overheating, the UI has been slightly reworked to accommodate mobile controls. For example, the health, food, and oxygen bars have been moved to the top of the screen, and to open the inventory, you now tap a button on the upper right corner.
The mobile version of Subnautica is available on the App Store and Google Play for $9.99 with a temporary launch discount.
