It’s got the action, the explosions, and the shiny loot to keep you hooked, but it doesn’t always deliver on the hype. You’re thrown into a futuristic world as a powerful Descendant, battling hordes of enemies, customizing your abilities, and chasing that sweet loot. Sounds fun, and it is !! For a while at least 😉 The combats are flashy, the characters look cool (I know where you are looking !), and the environments have a nice sci-fi vibe, but it feels like something’s missing.
Right off the bat, the gameplay can feel repetitive. You’re running similar missions over and over, grinding for upgrades, and after a few hours, it starts to feel like a chore :/ The enemies don’t always pose a real challenge, and while the combat is fast-paced, it’s not enough to keep it exciting in the long run. The loot system is fine, but it doesn’t hit that satisfying dopamine rush like other looter-shooters.
Visually, It’s a treat. The game looks great, with detailed character designs and vibrant environments. It’s clear the developers put a lot of effort into the aesthetic side of things, even if some place really feels too generic, like they have nice assets, but it feels sometimes like if they just put things here and there to feel the land. Also, the shiny graphics can’t hide the fact that the game doesn’t bring much new to the table… If you’ve played other games in the genre, like Destiny or Warframe, you might feel like you’ve seen it all before.
The First Descendant has potential, and it’s not a bad game, but it doesn’t do enough to stand out. It’s fun in bursts, but it struggles to hold your attention for the long haul. but it’s free, so worth the try 😉
