This game came out of the wild blue. I’m not even mad. It’s a cooperative pirate-themed survival game set in a flooded world where players sail between islands and take on a variety of bosses. The game blends melee-focused combat with progression systems and ship-based traversal, allowing players to move through the world either alone or in small groups. Honestly, it had me at boats and sailing. Oh, and best of all, it’s hosting a playtest.
Triarchy supports drop-in and drop-out multiplayer, so players can join a friend’s session at any point without losing their own character progression. Exploration is unrestricted, meaning crews can travel together or split up without tethering. Progress carries across sessions and encounters dynamically scale based on group size to maintain balance.
Combat centers on deliberate melee mechanics. Players manage stamina, time dodges, and look for openings to break enemy poise. Parrying plays a key role, rewarding precision while punishing overcommitment. Weapons vary in style and behavior, and dual-wielding allows for flexible combinations with different on-hit effects. Abilities are unlocked through a talent tree, giving players options that range from direct damage to support roles.
Boss encounters are a major focus, featuring multi-phase fights with distinct patterns and environmental hazards. Battles are designed for one to three players and offer unique materials and gear tied to each enemy. Challenge modes expand on these fights by introducing harder variants with altered mechanics and improved rewards. New additions include Flubgrum, a large Gribble guarding treasure, and the paired serpents Cragmaw and Marinox, which inhabit a volcanic caldera.

Outside of combat, players can customize their character’s appearance, equipment, and build. Ships act as mobile bases, with upgrade paths that affect speed, durability, and utility. Crafting stations and storage move with the player, keeping progression flexible. Adjustable assist settings allow individuals to modify difficulty variables like damage and stamina use without affecting others in the same session.
If you’d like to try out Triarchy, you can request playtest access on Steam. The weekend test is ending soon, so hurry or wait for the next round.
