Sand Sailor Studio has released a highly requested update for its Viking survival city management game, ASKA. You are now able to plant new trees, blow up caves for more resources, and the fishermen has received some reworks and fixes.
People have been asking for a way to respawn basic items around their base, like wood and ores. The developers tackled both of these issues in this patch, adding a forester hut where you can grow saplings and explosives to mine for more rocks and iron. When interacting with the forester, you can choose what tree you want and what size it will grow to. The larger ones will give regular wood, while smaller trees provide the player with long sticks when harvested. You tend to them in a sapling state by watering them and adding compost. After some time, they are ready to plant in the ground. It will take around 32 in-game days for them to grow, while the small variant only takes 24. The planting process can be automated by assigning a villager to the forester. The hut can also be upgraded to a proper house, which gives you the option to grow a larger variety, like birch trees.

The mines have become infested by insects that are laying giant eggs. These can be harvested to obtain a crawler sack. Combining this with some Jotun blood and fire at a workshop house will create an explosive. With this, you can blow up corridors and cause cave-ins, replenishing the iron and resources in that area. After lighting the fuse, you only have 10 seconds before it explodes. Naturally, it can also be used to fight enemies.
Fishing villagers are now more efficient at their job. They will no longer decide to leave their ship while in the middle of the ocean and will have an easier time finding where they parked their boat. While at sea, the AI now has an easier time navigating to the next fishing spot. If you feel like helping them out or just want a relaxing trip on the water, there is a new sturdy fishing rod that has increased durability. This comes in handy, as bigger fish now deal more damage to your rod.
Which of the new additions do you find most useful? Let me know in the comments.
