I loved the concept of this game but I didn’t like some things like feeling lost at the very beginning of the gameplay, or how the spirits work. I found the fish enemies to be a little bit overpowered. I loved the surfing mechanic so much that me and my friend spent a lot of time surfing all over the map because it felt nice, it looks very promising to be honest.
Voyagers of Nera is a surprisingly charming exploration-focused adventure. The world feels alive, and every trip into a new region brings fresh discoveries, upgrades, and small story moments that keep the loop engaging. Progression feels smooth, the atmosphere is great, and the choices you make actually matter, which adds a nice sense of ownership to your journey. It’s not perfect, as some resource systems drag and the pacing dips here and there, but overall it’s an enjoyable, relaxing, and often captivating experience.
Voyagers of Nera is the kind of game I’d call a perfect gap filler. The price is fair, and what you get, it’s pretty solid value. Gameplay-wise you’re looking at around 20 hours of content – i personally finished it in about 20 hours, and i’ve seen plenty of other reviews and posts saying the same thing. It’s important to note, though, that the game is in early access, so more content is planned for the future.
The vibe of Voyagers of Nera is what makes it stand out. Much like Raft, it’s cozy and relaxing rather than stressful or demanding. You don’t play it to rush or sweat progression – you just wander around, collect resources, and slowly expand at your own pace. It’s perfect for those “lazy sunday” play sessions, the kind where you drink a coffee and just casually play for a couple of hours without feeling pressured. It’s not offering groundbreaking mechanics, but it doesn’t need to – it’s about atmosphere.
That being said, the game definetely has rough edges. Some design choices feel questionable, and it’s obvious it hasn’t had proper playtesting to polish things out. There are lots of tiny quality of life issues and bugs that could be fixed fairly easily but add up over time. Combat is another weak spot. Like in Raft, it’s there because it has to be, but it’s neither fun nor complex. It just exist and doesn’t add much to the experience.
Overall, I’d give Voyagers of Nera a 6.5/10. It’s not a bad game by any means, and for the low price, it does exactly what it should: keep you busy for about a week of casual play. Cozy, relaxing, and with more content coming in the future, it’s worth picking up if you’re looking for something light to fill the gap between bigger releases.
I started with this game right as it went early access and its pretty fantastic. I love the spirits that you can rescue and learn abilities from instead of having a skill tree, I think that’s a nice change of pace. The mobility around the world seems very nice, I remember once I was able to use the water spirit how it would make my board slice through the water that much faster.
Theres a lot of great things in this game but also some things that might just need tweaking as they expand the game but over all, I’d buy it again.
