Drago Entertainment has produced several simulation games over the years, including Farm Simulator, Food Truck Simulator, and even Gas Station Simulator, so they are no strangers to the genre.

Each of those excellent recreations of everyday life had unique difficulties. But now they’re taking it a step further by creating the extreme survival simulator Winter Survival.

Imagine going on a hike with your pals, being separated, and then awaking in a freezing hell with your fingers frozen to the bone, no survival gear and every kind of animal in the woods searching for its next meal. You! Hunt or be hunted, and scavenge what you can. or die trying… Will you endure long enough to call for help?

Drago Entertainment’s 10th Dev log has added more details about the hunting and adaptation system.

They are hard at work on hunting and adaptation systems, including spear combat. One of the oldest weapons for hunting and defense, yet if you think you’re going to run up and get all stabby and make a deer into a pincushion, think twice, for even the deer when in its element can be a tough beast indeed. Along with spears, they are working on an impaling animation. Anticipate the attack of the ferocious and cunning wolf and use its own momentum against it.

Although fighting a wolf with your bare hands seems like a terrible life choice, the developers are aiming to keep you amused with their wolf mini-game. If you time it properly, you might end up with some minor bodily damage, but you might also have another chance to flee.

When your life is in danger, what better moment is there to learn? Your character will adapt and become more adept at the tasks at hand as you become more familiar with your environment, make the tools you need to survive, gather resources, cook, craft, etc. This will make attempting to survive a little bit simpler by giving you access to new recipes, higher stats, and even new game content.

No game release date has been announced as of yet, even though the game is still under production and will be made available through Early Access. Luckily, you can try out Winter Survival: Prologue on Steam.
