After being in development for well over a year, Far From Home has released the highly anticipated addition to their scientific pilot survival game, Forever Skies. This update includes co-op, new events, a game loop rework, and crossover event items.
Multiplayer is the standout feature of this update. You can now play with up to four players after unlocking the mode. All you need to do is complete the introduction section in single-player, and you’ll receive a notification that co-op is available. This mode is directly accessible from the main menu, and you can use your solo world or switch back and forth. It works through Steam servers, so all you have to do is invite your friends, and you’re good to go.
A new world event has been added to the game. Occasionally, a capsule will drop around you, sent by the Ark. These capsules are filled with building recipes and broken chests. Once repaired, they open to reveal valuable loot and upgrades for your tools. A new threat has also been introduced to the skies: a creature named the Scrapwing. This creature can appear on your airship while you’re flying, attempting to land on your ship to steal parts. To defeat it, you’ll need to use your extractor to steal its loot.

Forever Skies has also added posters and small decorative items from other games as part of a collaboration. These include items from Planet Crafter, Pacific Drive, Medieval Dynasty, and Frostpunk 2. You can find them at various points of interest.
The gameplay loop and story progression have been revamped. Following the quests should now feel smoother, as you’re less likely to visit a new area only to realize you need an item from another location. During the tutorial, you’ll now gain access to a device that allows you to craft basic resources directly from your inventory. Additionally, there’s a brand-new intro cutscene, a metal collector that requires a magnet to pull up scrap from below the dust, and the deck extractor, which is now unlocked later in the game.
