Over a decade after Terraria’s release, Re-Logic has launched its latest major update, marking the start of the 15th anniversary. Bigger & Bolder not only adds new content but also focuses on expanding and refining in-game systems.
Crafting now uses a tabbed interface that lets you search for recipes and browse by category such as weapons and furniture. The old grid view remains available for players who prefer it. The game can also draw materials from nearby chests automatically so you do not need to move ingredients into your inventory before making things. These feel like practical fixes for a game that now counts more than 6,000 items.
Inventory management gets a few helpful touches too. All identical items can stack, even those with the same prefixes and suffixes. There is a new banner menu that lets you claim and use banners without hauling them around. Small changes like these add up when you spend a lot of time collecting and crafting.
Multiplayer gets a spectator option, so when you die on a server, you can now toggle between other players and watch what they see while you wait to respawn. That should make it easier to learn from big fights or to keep an eye on your stash when you are down.
Housing and NPCs also changed as villagers no longer require a valid room to spawn, although they will retreat at night if they do not have a proper home. The housing query tool now gives a visual scan showing where required elements are and which parts are missing. Those improvements aim to reduce tedium while keeping the rules clear.

World seeds were rebuilt to be more visible and easier to use. A new seed menu lists all special seeds and lets you combine them. Want Skyblock mixed with Not the Bees? You can try that. New official seeds include one that starts you on a tiny floating island and another that gives each team a different spawn point for competitive play. Seasonal and spooky seeds let you lock your world into Christmas or Halloween themes. There are also more extreme options, like a seed that increases the number or size of dungeons. Secret seeds and unlocks remain part of the discovery loop.
The update includes over 650 new items, new furniture and block sets, new transformations such as bat and rat forms, new summoner whips and prefixes, and lighthearted additions like an RC car. The team also refreshed many sprites and added new environmental effects, from auroras to visible fish, and new background art to help deepen the game’s mood.
Crossover content also arrives in this patch, bringing Dead Cells items reimagined for Terraria, along with new vanity pieces, furniture, and weapons. Palworld pals were also adapted with unique in-game functions to add more variety to the game without changing core systems.
Music and localization saw attention too and brings eight new boss tracks so each major boss now has its own theme and a set of extra tunes are available through music boxes. The update expands language support to include Japanese, Korean, and traditional Chinese, and it ships with community reviewed localization fixes that will continue to be refined in future patches.
One addition carries a personal story. A vanity set named Heroicis honors a fan named Frank, created in partnership with Make A Wish New Jersey. Frank shared a short message about resilience and gratitude that the team included in the launch post. The set has a special obtainment method and comes with a film noir shader that matches its style.
For players returning after a break or for those who have spent years in Terraria, 1.4.5 promises new ways to play while staying true to the original experience. Do you think we can expect one more final update?
