Abiotic Factor has revealed a new companion system set to arrive with its spring update, and the developers are giving a clearer look at what we can expect coming up next.
The team says the new roadmap image was not ready in time, but it still used the update to outline several of the features coming next, including a major shift for its pet system.
The biggest change is that Pets 2.0 has been moved up and will now arrive as part of Cosmic Companions. That update will expand the game’s strange little menagerie with new mutations from Anteverse 2, each with its own behavior and abilities.
The idea is not just to collect them, but to evolve them, care for them, and even build cozy beds for your companions along the way.
These creatures will not be limited to being sidekicks in name only. Deep Field Games says they can also become fighting allies, joining the player in combat and using their own skills when danger shows up. That should give Abiotic Factor another layer of survival support, while also making the game’s creature system feel a little more alive and useful.
The update will also bring wristwatch variants through a new upgrade system, which sounds like a small touch at first but may end up adding another useful tool for players. Alongside that, the developers are planning new foods, weapons, inventions, and quality of life changes, plus a few additions that have apparently been requested for some time.
There is still more to come, and the updated roadmap is yet to be revealed at a later date. The spring update looks set to bring a brand new pet system, more improvements, and possibly a few odd surprises for players already deep into Abiotic Factor’s survival loop.
