Abiotic Factor Adds Unusual Weather Mechanic

Bad weather will find you even when you're indoors.

Deep Field Games has released a new patch for its scientific survival game Abiotic Factor. Update 0.8.2 adds dangerous weathers effects to the facility, a way to repair your favorite guns, and facial hair.

G.A.T.E is home to many experiments involving portals that lead to alternate dimensions. The only problem used to be the outbreak of various monsters. However, now you can expect different weather occurring around the laboratory. A portal leading to Flathill can release fog throughout part of the facility, and when this happens, your vision will be greatly obscured. As if that were not bad enough, a new skeleton creature roams around the mist, waiting to run into you. Also, various locations lead to planets that contain airborne spores; these can leak out and infect the beasts in the lab, making them stronger.

The last weather effect has nothing to do with other dimensions. On one of the deeper floors, there is a nuclear reactor that powers the place. It can malfunction, causing the floors above to become radioactive. You need to wear a hazmat suit to survive or wait until the air filtration system kicks in and removes the toxic gases.

Trick or treat

Abiotic Factor’s character customization has been updated to include various beard and mustache styles to create the scientist of your dreams. Along with this, a large selection of ties has been added, ranging from different colors to more intricate designs. A few new trinkets can now be obtained from the cacophonous and ornate crates; these were in the game before, but you could not open them. You can now find the corresponding keys and get some new goodies from them.

Scattered around the facility, you can find military weapons. However, after some use, these will break. The developers were looking into a way for you to repair them without making it too easy, as they want you to primarily use the ones you craft yourself. The solution was to have certain enemies drop repair kits, allowing you to keep your strong guns for a little longer.

What weather effects would you like to see in the future? Let me know in the comments.
