Deep Field Games has revealed new details about the combat system for their science half-life-inspired survival game Abiotic Factor. We also got a look at two new tools to change your armor appearance and transfer loot to base in an instant.
The developers have provided us with some insights into various weapon damage types, including blunt weapons, sharp weapons, projectiles, hot weapons, and cold weapons. Understanding these damage types will become crucial when choosing the appropriate arsenal for each different monster in the game. The hide of beast enemies for example is impervious to piercing that is caused by a crossbow or a knife, but blunt damage may prove more effective on these beings. Using a damage type that the enemy is weak against will increase the chance of you landing a critical hit. Using the wrong damage type will significantly reduce the amount of damage dealt or not damage them at all. However, not every monster has a weakness, for these, it will be better to use traps, freeze them, or make other enemies turn on them.

They also showed off a few new craftable tools. The Transmogrifier is an item that allows the users to turn their armor into a cosmetic-only piece of gear. This is useful when you explore the lab and find a helmet that you like the look of, but the stats are worse than what you are currently wearing.
In addition, they announced one of the most convenient tools I have seen in a while, known as the Distribution Pad. You will be able to link this device with the storage units back at your base, and when your inventory fills up, you can use it to send all your loot back home in an instant. This item is great for when you are out grinding from resources or far away and become over-encumbered.
What do you think about having to use multiple weapons while exploring the game? Let me know in the comments.
