Action-Packed Survival Shooter ‘Killing Floor 3’ is the Goriest Entry Yet

With more blood, guts, and chaos, it’s the most brutal game in the series.

Tripwire Interactive released a new title in their highly popular survival shooter, Killing Floor. Known for its intense co-op gameplay and relentless waves of enemies, the series has built a strong following over the years. This third installment, Killing Floor 3, raises the bar by delivering even more action-packed combat, a wide range of fully customizable weapons, and the introduction of a central home base that serves as your team’s main hub between missions.

You are part of an elite group tasked with eliminating the large army of undead mutants that invade every part of the planet. These range from a normal zed to more unique and stronger types that wield blades or other weapons. One of many new features they added to Killing Floor 3 is an explorable hub where you and your friends can hang out. It comes with multiple facilities, like a place for you to train your aim or test different weapons. Unlock skills by spending points you gain from leveling up, customize your character, and check up on the paid battle passes.

When you and your team are ready, you select what level you want to play. Here, you spend six waves fighting zombies, with the final wave being a boss that requires the entire team to take it down, as it has a lot of health. This will be the main gameplay loop. However, if you follow the main quest line, there are side objectives to complete on each mission as well, which you will need to do within the time that you are there.

Each round, you start with a small amount of cash that can be increased by leveling up your character. With this, you adjust your loadout by switching around guns, grenades, and equipment. Each of these does cost money. The stronger the firepower, the higher the price. Throughout the mission, you get money by killing the zeds, which you can spend on ammo, new guns, and armor upgrades in between waves.

Killing Floor 3 brings the series’ specialized classes, like the medic, to a new level. Each of them comes with a unique ability that is set on a long cooldown after using it. These can help you out in a pinch, as the aforementioned medic can drop a large healing field, while a combat-oriented specialist can deploy a drone that shoots powerful bullets that can melt stronger enemies. Perks can boost your character’s power even further. In the current release, these are tied to the class you decide to play, meaning they all play a little differently. However, it has already been confirmed that skills will be changed so any character can obtain any skill in the Remnant update, which is the first major update we can expect for the game.

The devs have released a roadmap on what we can expect in the rest of 2025 and 2026. Besides the aforementioned change, it will also add new weapons and mods for them, which seems to be a consistent addition to every update. Towards the end of the year, we are getting a new specialist named DJ Scully. It is unknown what his specialty will be. There will be a prison level. Each new mission also comes with assignments to complete. In 2026, we can expect two major updates, adding more locations, new zombie types, and a boss. The latter one will also introduce a new perk.

Killing Floor 3 is now available for $39.99 on Steam, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
