NC America has confirmed that Aion 2 will arrive on Steam later this year, bringing the MMORPG sequel to PC players worldwide.
The story takes place 200 years after the original conflict, following the destruction of the Tower of Eternity. In this new setting, the Elyos and Asmodian factions must deal with a broken world while facing the stronger Balaur faction.
Set in a large high fantasy world, Aion 2 keeps flight at the center of its design. Players will be able to move freely across a map said to be 36 times larger than the original Aion, dive underwater, and take part in aerial combat in both PvE and PvP. The game also uses a combat system that blends tab targeting with more active elements tied to timing, precision, and positioning.
The sequel is aiming to offer a wide range of content at launch. Solo players and small groups will have access to four player dungeons, while larger groups can take on eight player raids. PvP is also a major part of the experience, with 1v1 and 4v4 arenas, large scale cross server Realm versus Realm battles, and the return of the faction based Abyss.
Character building will give players plenty to work with, as Aion 2 includes eight classes and more than 200 ways to customize and shape a character. Such level of customization should help the game stand out for players who enjoy fine tuning both appearance and play style.
The game is being built as a PC first release and will support local servers in North America, South America, Europe, and Japan when it launches. NC America says more news will arrive in May, while players can already wishlist the game on Steam.
