    Flawed, but decent

Excellent atmosphere of fear, even on an old engine. It keeps you in suspense the whole time, the sound design definitely won’t let you relax. You’re constantly running and thinking on your feet. Here they’re ready to eat you, tear you apart, and shoot you. It’s a short playthrough.

However, the story here is entirely told through notes, and frankly, I didn’t like it. It’s easy to miss some important detail. All in all, it’s a decent game. I recommend it to fans of nerve-wracking experiences.

When the Lights Go Out, the Fear Begins

Amnesia: The Bunker is a scary game that keeps you nervous the whole time. You play as a soldier stuck in an old World War I bunker. It’s dark, dangerous, and something is hunting you. You don’t get many supplies, and you have to be smart to survive. The sounds in the game like footsteps and doors creaking make you feel scared all the time.

What I liked is that you can explore the bunker in different ways. It’s not just one straight path. You need to keep a generator running or everything goes dark, and the monster comes out more. Your flashlight makes noise, so using it is a risk. These things make the game more exciting and stressful in a good way.

But the game also has some problems. There’s only one monster, and after a while, it’s not as scary because you learn how it behaves. The story is also not very deep. You can find notes and things to understand it better, but it’s not the main part of the game. Sometimes the gameplay feels the same and can get boring if you play too long in one go.

Even with those small issues, I still enjoyed the game. It’s really good if you like horror games where you feel alone, trapped, and always in danger. It’s not the scariest game I’ve played, but the atmosphere is amazing and it kept me on edge for most of the time.

    Horror in the Trenches

    • Pros
    • Constant tension and psychological horror done right
    • Oppressive, immersive environment
    • Masterful sound design
    • Survival and improvisation at its core
    • Cons
    • AI can sometimes be weird or unfair
    • Narration isn't deep

Imagine this: you’re a soldier in World War I. You wake up, alone, injured, in a dark underground bunker. No way out. The silence is crushing. Strange echoes fill the air. A flickering light down the corridor. You’ve got nothing but a crank flashlight, a few bullets, and a generator that barely runs for a few minutes before plunging the place back into darkness… And in that darkness, something is waiting. (And no, I promise you, it’s not Santa Claus.). So, you’re looking to sweat buckets without even leaving your chair? You think you’ve seen it all when it comes to horror games? Well, time to update your survival resume.

Forget linear scripts or predictable jump scares. The Bunker throws you into a semi-open world where every corner might hold a vital resource… or your doom (honestly, the second one is more likely). The gameplay stands on three pillars: exploration, resource management, and above all, surviving a merciless predator.

You’ll need to scavenge, craft, and make do with what you find. But beware: every sound you make, every slammed door, every dropped item, calls The Beast (no, not the Beauty). It lurks. It listens. It learns. This monster isn’t just window dressing, it responds dynamically to your behavior. Provoke it? It comes. Survive? It adapts. So, you improvise with your guts and whatever junk you’ve got in your inventory. But remember, every mistake could be your last.

Visually, The Bunker is here to trap you. Is’s design is oppressive, filthy, and chillingly realistic. You can practically feel the mud, the rust, the mildew creeping up the walls. It’s cold, metallic, claustrophobic. Immersion so thick it almost suffocates you. But the real masterpiece? The sound.
Every creak, every breath, every squeaking rat becomes a potential death sentence. Silence becomes your enemy, and every sound is a gamble. The crank flashlight? It makes this subtle clicking noise when you recharge it, absolutely blood-curdling. Because guess what? The Beast hears it too. And it’s coming. The soundtrack is minimal, but that’s what makes it so effective. That minimalism creates a tension that’s relentless. The sound design here? Surgical. Absolute excellence.

As intense as the experience is, The Bunker isn’t flawless. The monster’s AI, while impressive, can sometimes behave oddly, or feel unfairly omniscient. And compared to previous entries in the Amnesia series, the narrative feels less directed.

Finally, Amnesia: The Bunker doesn’t just scare you, it makes you vulnerable. It doesn’t go for cheap jumps, it makes you sweat. There’s no flashy spectacle here, just masterfully crafted atmosphere, smart gameplay mechanics, and a creature that feels like it crawled straight out of your nightmares.
So if you’re into deep, immersive horror, the kind that settles in your gut and refuses to leave, jump in. Just remember: every minute in the dark is one minute too many.

    • Short story

The game takes place in a bunker during World War II. Things have gone wrong in this place built underground and we find ourselves right here. In the game we play as a French soldier, we find ourselves lying in the infirmary in a German shelter after the conflict, having lost our memory, and the game begins.
The game starts with such motivation that you get nervous from this sentence from the very first minute, as if saying ‘you woke up here, but the rest is up to you, let me see’. While we were wondering where I am, why am I here, what to do now, we get a dynamo flashlight, and as soon as we pass it on, the first warning of the game comes: ‘use this, but it will make a lot of noise’.
We were not alone in the shelter. We are with a creature that reacts to every sound we make, running and wandering around in the dark. While there is a creature that can be triggered by the sound of our footsteps while running, the sound of pushing barrels, the sound of setting up a flashlight, the sound of breaking doors, and even the sound of a cartridge we throw on the ground. It is very difficult to move around the shelter.
As in every Amnesia, we can find and read the story of the soldiers in the shelter, our character’s own thoughts, and the notes explaining how this place came to be this way, while wandering around. We can also look at the map of the place in the office, which is our main registration room in this labyrinth-like shelter. Our map consists of three regions and as you progress in the game, what you need to do is marked on the map, our mission is also pinned in the notes because when we leave the office, we do not have the chance to look at the map again. There is also a chest in the office where we can store our excess items in the inventory. There is a resource management in the game that makes us think ‘should I buy this or use that’ every time we visit this place. Since we have limited inventory space (this number can be increased with the upgrades available), we should choose carefully what we will take with us. Our safe also has a limited capacity, but we can stack the items we find by throwing them on the floor in front of the safe.
The game offers a playing time of 6 hours, some may find this time short like me, but when the game ends, a warning appears on the screen for the next play, the game tells us that the passwords and item locations will be random in each new game we play. They at least thought of this to reduce repetitiveness.
If you like survival horror games, if you are interested in maze-style dark places, if you are patient and like tension or horror, you should definitely play this game. Otherwise, you may get tired of dying a lot and being left in the dark. Enjoy.

Amnesia is a hair raising experience
    7

Let’s get straight to it. Right off the bat, this game is a true masterpiece when it comes to creating a hair-raising atmosphere. The level of spookiness is off the charts! From the eerie, dimly lit hallways to the bone-chilling background sounds, and the constant sense of impending doom, I was completely engrossed. If you’re a horror enthusiast, this game will send shivers down your spine for days. One of the standout aspects for me was the way the plot unravels. “Amnesia: The Bunker” skillfully weaves a captivating story that kept me on my toes. The integration of the main character’s amnesia into the gameplay is nothing short of brilliant. Trying to uncover my past and make sense of the eerie events in the bunker felt like solving a thrilling mystery. Now, let’s get down to the details.

Now, let’s get into detail. The controls can be a bit clunky, but I couldn’t help but wish my character had a bit more grace when maneuvering, especially while trying to sneak past those eerie monsters. On top of that, the puzzles really put my thinking skills to the test. But I suppose that’s all part of the fun and add to the challenge. Speaking of challenges, the monsters in this game are absolutely terrifying. They never let up, and the constant feeling of being hunted heightens the adrenaline rush. I’ll admit, I may have let out a few (ok, more than a few) screams, but that’s what makes a horror game so exhilarating, don’t you think? In a nutshell, “Amnesia: The Bunker” is a spine-tingling delight for horror enthusiasts. It’s a fully immersive experience with a mind-bending storyline and a never-ending barrage of scares that will keep you on your toes.

    A different Amnesia
    8
    • Pros
    • Great atmosphere
    • Good survival
    • Graphic and animation design is really good
    • Puzzles that are not too complicated but still interesting
    • Different enemies
    • Missions that are easy to follow with your map
    • Cons
    • The game is set in the same place 80% of the time
    • Once you learn how to manage your items, it does become easy to dodge the main enemy

This Amnesia is very different from the previous ones.
I have played all Amnesias and I did enjoy them all and I can say that if you are jumping from the previous ones to this one, keep your mind open for a different play style.

(From this point on, this review will contain spoilers)

The game is set mostly in one area, you have to follow the map to figure out where to go, so you don’t get distracted exploring, I loved that! Since this game requires you to keep track of your items, it is great to follow the map and explore at the game’s pace, so you don’t waste materials.

If you follow the game, you might be able to finish it in about 5h with not a lot of deaths!

I really enjoyed playing it, although everything is set in the same place, there is still a lot to do and explore.

Unlike other Amnesias you will also always have an enemy trying to hunt you, but I think it does make sense and it helps you utilize the whole map.

The graphics are really good, the story is like other Amnesia stories in my opinion, which I do enjoy.

It is a really fun game to play! I highly recommend it.
