Small indie studio Revelation Games revealed what players can expect from base building in their post-apocalyptic survival title As One We Survive. According to the team, this work is a major step toward the game’s Early Access release.
Players will begin by claiming a Homestead site. Each location carries passive stats such as Security, Seclusion, Warmth, and Morale. Those stats change how safe and comfortable a base feels and influence the chance of theft or a raid at a chosen site. Picking a quiet, well hidden spot will feel different from picking a place that is easier to defend but more visible.
Tools allow breaking down debris for construction parts and scavenge the world for components. Every piece you collect goes into the Homestead’s foundation and can be spent on building and upgrades.
Facilities can be placed in slots around your Homestead using the materials you gather. Beds provide rest, workshops let you repair gear, gardens grow food, distilleries produce alcohol, and wood stoves add warmth. Each facility can be upgraded to run better and to unlock new benefits.
Once built, facilities are active parts of daily life. You can collect water from a rain catcher, plant seeds in the garden, turn herbs into simple medical supplies, brew alcohol at the distillery, and repair weapons at the workshop. The systems are designed so each building has a clear, useful role.
Upgrades improve the Homestead’s passive stats and its defenses. You can add barricades, reinforce doors, and bring in candle lighting or electricity to boost comfort and security. These changes are meant to make a base more resilient and easier to live in as the game progresses.

Several core systems have also been explained. The save and load system will save when you sleep and continue as long as your character survives. A rebuilt spawn manager aims to handle dynamic spawning and despawning and to support future faction based NPCs. Quality of life additions include an auto run function for long travel and clearer item pickup notifications for harvesting and looting. The developers also mentioned work on the game’s music with composer Michael Baugh and teased more to come.
With so many systems coming together and a lot of tuning and bug fixing left, the team decided to shift the Early Access window to Q2 to Q3 2026. The developers said they prefer more time to make sure As One We Survive is stable and balanced rather than rushing it out.
