Ocean exploration is possibly the most anticipated addition to Aska since the game’s release in 2024, and it has finally arrived. The Seaborne Raiders update expands the world with new islands, enemies, resources, and more work for your tribe.
To start your oceanic journey, a new Harbor lets you build Karvi ships and send villagers on long voyages. You prepare a ship much like you would for any difficult trip: stock arrows, weapons, food, and water. Pick a crew and decide who will gather and who will fight. When you reach an island, you can make a camp. The ship will hold position while the crew goes ashore, and you can assign simple roles such as gathering, defending, or following commands with the horn. When the hold is full, you return home to unload, restock, and plan the next run.
But with Sailing comes new risks. The Slambakur creature can turn the expedition into a fight for survival. It is a strong monster that needs careful planning to face. Harbor workers also have a role at home. They will load and unload ships and process captured Slambakur parts for use in your settlement.
While exploring the islands, many places hold human settlements that will not welcome strangers. The Dragon Folk live in desert settlements and will fight to defend their homes. These encounters force you to plan your approach and choose which risks are worth taking. Win a raid and you can bring back supplies that help your people grow.

The ancient Viking world has expanded in a massive content update, bringing expeditions, raids, new biomes, and more. pic.twitter.com/Wfx2HJA3jl
The island consists of biomes that affect how you play. Desert islands are dry and harsh, containing salt and a special stone. They are also home to the Nidhogg, a flying boss connected to the Dragon Folk. Defeating it opens access to golem technology. Marsh islands are wet and dangerous. They hide new creatures and a rare resource called Jotun Glass, which is needed to make Golems. Smaller islands may hide exploration towers that point you to other islands and help you find your way across the sea.
Golems are a new villager type. They do not need food or sleep and they work without rest. They are not eternal. They age and break down after a limited time which makes them powerful but temporary helpers. You will need Jotun Glass to craft them and decide how best to use their strength before they crumble.
One thing to note is that the new world systems are not compatible with old saves. To play the new islands and features you will need to start a new save. Existing saves still work and are not erased. The developers have put in a world generation version system to make future changes safer and to reduce disruption to saved games.
The developers revealed that this update lays the foundation for world exploration, with new biomes, resources, enemies, and bosses still to be released in Aska.
