The studio behind the popular survival game Conan Exiles has released a lot of new details about the changes coming to the followers system in their next big and free update called “Age of Sorcery.”

In this new update, followers will see a significant balance change. Going from the overpowered units that they are to weaker followers that can be upgraded over time. This is done so players feel less of a disadvantage when not having a follower by their side while in combat. Followers will see a significant decrease in both their health and damage after converting them. However, these stats can be increased by obtaining and upgrading a new perk called “Authority”.

Improving this new perk also has a few other benefits, such as being able to knock out humans more easily to either convert them or use them in the new rituals. It will also make it so enemies will be more likely to attack your followers instead of you. To combat dying followers from being overwhelmed, it will give them a health regeneration skill and increased health.

When following the Authority perk line, the final upgrade will give you a choice between having two followers at your side at once, or keeping only one at your side but giving them a huge increase in their attributes.

Your Authority skill also has the ability to get corrupted. Corrupting the first perk in this set will give your followers a chance to go into a frenzied state which increased their damage by a significant amount. By corrupting more skills in this perk set, damage will be increased while in frenzied mode.

There are also a few new ways to get followers. By unlocking the demon lord perk, you have a chance to summon a demonic follower every time you hit an enemy. These demonic followers will only stay for a short while, but if you are lucky while doing a lot of hits you can summon multiple demonic followers at one time.

You can also bring an unconscious thrall to a shallow grave, where you can perform a ritual to reanimate him into a powerful undead follower. These undead followers will start out at max level with three perks of their own. The only downside is they will wither away and die over time.

The final new way is to sacrifice humans to summon stronger abyssal followers. These abyssal beasts are as powerful as an army. And you can unlock new skins for the abyssal beast in the battle pass that comes with the new update.

It has been confirmed that the Age of Sorcery update is nearing completion, but no exact date is known yet.
