The setting is Ancient Greece and you travel between maps and that are available.
I have been absolutely enjoying the game and the mechanics of the fighting and skills
Game is a bit slow after around 15 hours due to the skill progression needing more time in.
Small Map and small amount of animals and enemies.
Building mechanic is enjoyable but still needs work
No Mounts sadly
The game looks amazing and the graphics is UE5
I’m not a builder but I found building in this game goes smoothly, without struggling to get each section to snap together correctly or to make sure the right side is facing the right way. I’ve seen the resources are easy to find and harvest. But would like more carry weight/storage. I’m learning to sneak attack while using a bow and arrows to kill. I manage to navigate my way around, although I find the map hard to read/follow but I am dyslexic and 63 years old, so that may be a factor. I often find myself standing and watching the time change or admiring the views this world offers. I am a bit of a hoarder in survival games, so more carrying weight with bigger pockets and more storage would be wonderful. However, there is the fact you can drop overflowing inventory on the ground for later pick up, rather than having to delete it.
I am still working on quests and getting off the first island, in the meantime I’ve been levelling up, crafting armour and weapons. I do look forward to exploring the other islands.
The most interesting thing about Dawn of Defiance might very well be how it underlines how genius a lot of the systems in Valheim are. Still, I’m glad DoD exists, so let’s talk about how close it is to “Valheim, but Greek”.
At first, you’re going to be inclined to say “a lot”. You enter an area of the game with rocks and sticks to pick up. There are trees and saplings around, boar and deer, and white skeletal guys that only come out at night. You’re building with large piles of wood, stone, and resin (only the addition of thatch is new). Your early game is about getting flint weapons and leather armor. The graphics are quite a bit prettier, but this is actually a downside quite often, as the game is not yet well-optimized and occasional jankiness and frame-rate issues are very common. Your first foods are raspberries and cooked boar meat. Your first house will be a square three or four tiles across with simple walls and a simpler roof.
If you like Valheim and like games, you should get this one and try it. But although the game’s mechanics and structures are in good shape, there’s a lot of work that needs to be done here to make a solid gameIf you like crafting, building, gathering, upgrading, good graphics, and awesome combat, get this game. You won’t regret it!
I find the game fun and exciting even with it not being fully developed yet. The building mechanics and foraging for resources are similar to other games making it easy to understand.
It only has a third person pov and a single character at the moment, but from what I understand that may change in the future. The potential of the game is great with what can be added.
The map is big for what’s there and will be bigger in the future so I’m looking forward for what will come next.
I like that health isn’t contingent on food intake at the moment, and foods do boost other qualities like your stamina and health.
Overall, for just getting started, it’s on a great trajectory to do well.
The Game is set in ancient Greece where you explore the beautiful world and try to survive by crafting building and hunting alone or with friends on a private server.
The whole map has a decent size to keep you busy enough.
The gameplay is easy enough for anyone to learn with ease and it’s pretty fun I can say.
It’s time to be a definer or whatever is that called 😛
