RuneScape: Dragonwilds has launched a major update called Dowdun Reach, a region inspired by RuneScape’s Black Knights’ Fortress. The update not only includes new content but also long-awaited dedicated server support.
The new area leans into the look of a classic medieval fortress, with a strong black and red theme tied to Zamorakian energy. It also shifts away from the darker feel of Fellhollow by bringing in a brighter autumn setting, though Dowdun Reach is still meant to feel heavy, dense, and hostile. Exploration plays a major role here, along with quests, puzzles, mining, traversal, and combat as players push deeper into the fortress and unlock new paths along the way.
Fighting won’t be easy, as Black Knights can pressure players at close range and from a distance, while Twisted Zamorak Mages add another layer of danger with their ranged attacks. Blue Dragons also appear in the region, sent in by the dragon generals to hold the keep and protect its secrets. Their presence comes with a clear reward as well, since Blue Dragonhide can be used for the next tier of upgrades. At the top of the fortress stands the Black Knight Titan, the commander guarding the gate and one of the update’s biggest threats.
Progression also gets a boost with Mithril becoming the next major tier. Rich Mithril veins are hidden in risky areas and protected by enemies, forcing players to fight their way to the materials they need. Those resources can then be turned into new Mithril weapons and armour, opening the door to stronger builds for later challenges.
A new central base hub will also be unlocked inside the fortress, giving players a place to settle in and work with familiar faces. These characters will offer quests, guidance, and help as the mystery of what happened in Dowdun Reach begins to unfold. The update also raises every skill cap to 99, with future updates set to expand older skills in the same way. That means more room for progression, and more reason for players to keep grinding.
Customization is getting more attention too, which includes new decorations and building pieces. Dedicated Servers are also coming to RuneScape: Dragonwilds as part of the update, with support for up to 6 players. Players will be able to launch them through Steam, while those who prefer a simpler setup can use hosting partners or access the feature through the in game interface.
