Devour: A Short Review

• Pros
• Great coop
• Simple mechanics
• Regular updates and new content
• Cheap
• Quick matches
• Cons
• Can get repetitive
• Limited story
• AI behavior isn't that good
• Graphics are basic
• Not many different enemy types

Devour is a cool coop horror game where you have to stop a possessed cult leader before they drag you to hell. I would say it’s not too complicated but it can get intense, with all the creepy sound effects and jump scares. It’s all about teamwork, in order to survive you have to work together. If you like horror games that don’t take themselves too seriously I suggest giving this one a try.

This is pacify?
This game takes place between a house and a ritual place and the only way to stop the devil is to burn 10 ”devilish” goats in a ritual session behind doors that can be opened with certain keys that you can obtain in the house. When you burn each goat, the devil goes crazy and grabs you or one of your teammates by the throat, if this happens, you can raise your friends who were knocked down and injured by the devil with the medkits that you will obtain from inside the house.

Long story short, our goal in the game is to stop the devil by lighting the fire with gasoline, of course, while we try to stop the devil, the jinns that appear as we burn goats and the number of burned goats increases, throwing millions of them around, are a bonus of the game. Apart from the issues I mentioned, the optimization of the game is successful and the tension is in place, but due to the game constantly repeating itself, in my opinion, the process of the game is like playing 3 hands in a row on average, more than that will be boring, overwhelming and make life miserable.
There is not much to add to the sounds of the game, they are not terrible enough to turn on a song in the background and turn off the sounds, nor can I say that I have listened to the best screaming, crying sounds etc. in this game, it offers average sound quality, in my opinion, it would be a lie if I said that I did not get nervous with the screaming sound coming from our lady sister who got a devil inside her after burning the goats. The game is generally a popcorn horror game that you can enjoy if you have not played Pacify, but the game does not offer you more than Pacify, in fact I can clearly state that it is a side-skirt of Pacify, if you have Pacify in your library, the only difference is burning the goats

My first survival game

Being new (at 61) to not only gaming but also survival games, I really enjoyed playing this. I found it easy to pick up and follow through. Eventually, I had a group of friends to play with the game became all that more enjoyable. It is difficult in some parts to play solo, a group made it so much easier.

Devour is a survival horror game where your goal is to get 10 objects and either burn them, shock them or do something along those lines depending on which stage you are playing.

Devour is made as a prequel to the game The Watchers, only in the story how ever since gameplay wise both games play completely different.
Unlike The Watchers this game can be played solo, how ever Devour is build for multiplayer.
The game is split up into multiple stages from an old farmhouse to a haunted inn. You and up to three of your friends have to figure out what items you will need to use where and honestly after you figure this out the game becomes a bit too easy.
You grab all the items and put them next to the area where you need to use them, the demon will not chase you until you used some of the items so take all the time you need and explore the area first. (of course not all the items can be collected and brought to the end spot but since you can map out where they are ahead of time this is very easy to complete especially with more people.)
The more items/animals you sacrifice the faster the demon will go and if you get caught you will be dragged away to the beginning of the level. Your friends can then help you get back up if they have a medkit on them.

There are multiple stages to choose from and all of them give a creepy horror vibe, perfect for a horror game of course.
The locations also don’t feel the same even if the objectives across the stages look very similar.

Devour is probably not a game you will replay often or a lot even, but it is the perfect pick up and play the game with your friends.
