After years of quiet work, the team behind Dysmantle has released Dysplaced, their next survival game, and revealed a roadmap that gives a clear look at what we can expect leading up to the 1.0 release.
In Dysplaced, you arrive in a dying fantasy realm and find pieces of our world sticking out of it. Old televisions and fridges sit where they do not belong. Locals treat them like relics and you learn fast how those artifacts change play. A thrown grenade reads like a fire spell until you see its real power. Crafting blends iron and wood with batteries and circuit boards. That odd mix is a central theme of the game.
If you have played Dysmantle you will notice a similar sense of destruction and reward. Breaking things to make things remains a core joy. Still, this is not a sequel. Character creation, deeper base building, NPCs to meet, and a stronger narrative aim to set this apart. The protagonist is quiet and non intrusive. NPCs behave like those in classic adventure games rather than like RPG companions with long branching talks.
Early Access opens with 3 planned islands amd makes up roughly half of the final map. This should give most players more than 20 hours of play. The game is built for solo play first but online co-op for up to 4 players is also available from day one.
For players who enjoy managing their needs, unfortunately, there are no hunger or thirst meters planned. Instead the focus is on exploration, building multiple camps and rewarding player choices. Camps will grant benefits in their area and you will likely maintain several bases to expand safely. Unlike in Dysmantle, players can jump, and basic climbing is supported. The developers do not plan strict classes. Your tools and weapons will shape who you become.

The roadmap after launch will add fresh biomes and systems. A lush swamp named Helos brings cultists, new enemies and more alchemy. A later island will test players with heat extremes and introduce temperature mechanics along with tougher gear forged from iron. The 1.0 update will unlock the final island and bring an endgame challenge, a final boss, and completion to the story. Between those major steps the team plans smaller updates for quality of life, co-op balance, Steam Deck fixes and possible mod support.
This Early Access feels like the start of something that could grow into a much bigger survival game. It aims to keep the light hearted tone fans enjoy while widening the sandbox. For many Dysmantle fans and newcomers, that will be plenty of reason to dive in and see what the world does next.
Dysplaced is available on Steam for $24.99, with a limited-time 15% launch discount. The game is set to launch on consoles after the 1.0 release.
