First Dwarf is a charming mix of resource management, base-building, and exploration, set in a vibrant fantasy world that’s easy to get lost in. Taking control of a dwarf exploring floating islands has a unique appeal, and the game’s colorful environments are a treat to wander through. Early on, there’s a sense of discovery as you gather resources and set up your base, making each area feel like a mini adventure. Building up your camp and managing resources has a nice balance and gives the game a cozy, rewarding feel 🙂
The crafting and base-building mechanics are simple but enjoyable, offering plenty of freedom to personalize your setup. As you gather more resources, the progression feels steady, and unlocking new items keeps the game interesting. Combat can feel a bit basic, but it adds excitement to exploring new areas, where enemies present some strategic challenges. While the battles aren’t the game’s highlight, they’re a fun break from the resource gathering and building
One area that could improve is the quest structure. Although there are clear objectives, they can feel straightforward, and adding more story depth would enhance the world. There’s a lot of untapped potential for lore and character development, which would bring more life to the game’s fantasy setting. The repetition can also creep in after a while, especially if you spend a lot of time gathering the same resources. However, for those who enjoy a laid-back, immersive world with a good balance of building and exploration, these are only minor setbacks
Overall, First Dwarf is a solid experience with an enjoyable mix of building, exploring, and light combat. If you’re a fan of fantasy and want a cozy game that lets you create your little piece of the world, it’s worth diving into.
First Dwarf is a unique open world base building fantasy game.
The fact that you can control 2 different characters, it’s awesome.
The building camera which looks above your character is very nice.
The story is engaging and makes you want to watch it and go through it.
You can play either on split screen or online co-op which the split screen fact made me want to buy it!!
I love the building mechanics in this game, it’s very easy to build and nice to watch, offering gather management and tower defense system.
The combat is very nice too, offering a unique gameplay style with timing your attacks and nice mini bosses and monsters.
It has a lot of personality between the 2 characters that you control.. Good variety of weapons and their combat behavior, offering you a different playstyle every time.
The music background pairs well with the game making you want to play even more.
The quests are nice, leading you to uncover the mystery of the Dwarf’s life.
Even though it’s a very nice game with a beautiful environment and engaging story and combat, I didn’t like the fact that your building is limited of how far you can build.
The AI system needs work but it’s quite playable still.
Another thing I don’t really like is that it doesn’t have an upgrading system like levels or tiers to level up your buildings and such and that would be a nice thing from the devs to add for sure on their future updates.
The quest system maybe not everyone will like because it’s a little bit of a struggle but you can still figure it out.
The performance is not very stable and it doesn’t have any autosaves so if the game crashes you are screwed.
Ok so in summary the game feels and plays pretty decent BUT I think if I were you I would probably wait until they add more stuff to it and make it better with more to do and upgrade and such..
If you find a good discount value for the game, it’s definitely worth it.
