During the MIX Next Showcase Dreamside Interactive showcases new gameplay for their upcoming action survival game Frozen Flame. We got a look at the different combat styles, boss enemies, crafting, and more.

Combat

For some reason, the trailer starts out in the pause menu, maybe to show that you can invite friends or the footage was not cut properly. When the gameplay starts rolling we get to see the player fight an enemy called “Furious Grunt” who seems to be a mini-boss as it had a health bar at the top of the screen. As it jumps over to some regular enemies we get to see different weapons in action. You will be able to use a bow and magic staff to shoot monsters from afar. Melee Combat got a 2-handed blade and a small club, however, you can also use tools like the axe and pickaxe but these are weaker. In the next few shots, a different player joined the fight (this was a better way of showing us that multiplayer was a feature instead of using the pause menu).

Exploration and crafting

Getting around the world in Frozen Flame can be done in multiple ways. There is an ability that transforms the player into a bird allowing you to fly across the land. Swimming is another option, just make sure you get to land before your stamina runs out. 

While exploring you have to kill monsters, trade NPCs, chop down trees, and mine rocks to collect resources to craft new gear and build a home base. In some ruins you will find locations to pray, doing this will allow you to unlock buffs for your character. When you follow the main questline you will uncover hidden places and bosses to fight.

Frozen Flame is stated to be released later in 2022. However, if you can not wait to play the game you can join the open beta between the 28th and 30th of October.
