Inflexion Games is about to release their open-world Victorian survival game Nightingale. The players have eagerly anticipated for the game’s release, as it’s one of the most wishlisted games on Steam.
The main hook of the game is its realms and portal traveling. During your playthrough, you can find and or craft cards that you can play at the portals. Depending on the card you use, the other side will have a different outcome. You will be able to change the biome, what monsters spawn there, the faction, and more. Additionally, within each realm, there is a structure called the realmic transmute. Here you can play even more cards that determine either smaller aspects of your world like permanent nighttime or give the player buffs like getting more stamina.
The plot of the game revolves around you being stranded in the Fae realms. Your goal is to make use of the portals and discover their way to the city of Nightingale, known as the last bastion of humanity.

As of the launch of the game, there are a total of three different biomes to explore and call home. You will be able to build up a base with a ton of predesigned walls, floors, and roofs in multiple different styles from your basic twigs and rocks to a medieval setting.
Crafting is something you will do a lot in Nightingale, and there is a workbench for anything you can imagine.
Combat in the game is rather simple, but there is a variety of melee and ranged weapons to choose from. Throughout the world, there are large towers and other dungeons to test your skills with a boss at the end. To enter one of these dungeons, you will need to have reached the minimum gear level.
Nightingale can be played both solo or with friends, you will be able to invite them to your realm in the party menu. Once they are there, you can give them an invitation card. Due to the game always requiring you to be online even when playing solo, they can use this card to visit your realm even when you are offline.

While the game is close to release, some last-minute changes have been made due to community feedback. The most significant adjustments have been made to the hotbar, which not only underwent a visual overhaul but also changed the numbering system from 1 to 0. This may seem like a minor alteration, but during the preview builds of the game, the numbering sequence ranged from 6 to 0 and 1 to 5. This was because the latter half of the numbers were designated for the left hand, which serves as your offhand for holding items such as food and an umbrella. The first half was for the right hand, primarily used for holding tools. Why the developers did not arrange it so that 1 to 5 represented the left hand and the latter numbers represented the right hand is something I still do not understand.
Additionally, players can now set custom keys for their hotbar, and inventory management has been improved. For those who enjoy taking screenshots, there is now an option to sheath your tools, with the default key binding set to H. Furthermore, a streamer mode has been added to the game, which hides your character’s name to prevent chat spamming you with invites.
Nightingale will launch into Early Access on February 20th at 6 PM GMT / 12 PM EST on Steam and Epic Games.
